Mrs. Ida is one of English teacher in my school. She teaches us patiently so I like her very much.
Yesterday I forget to bring my book. It made her emotion.
She last Tuesday she gave us some homework. Yesterday I didn’t bring it, before I was been
angry I asked permision for here borrow it at my neighbour class.
Mom, may I borrow book at other class, please? Where is your book? “why don’t you bring your
book, Rud?” she asked.
“It was left at house’s friend. When I was studying together there”. I replied
Ok, nextime don’t do like that. Mrs. Ida adviced me. Of course mom, I do apologize about it.
After I got English book, she called me to come infront of the class. She said: “Rudy come here!
Yes, mom. What must I do? I replied. Take the chalk, please! Then write your answer on the
blackboard. She asked me again. So, I did what she interupted to me.
Oh my God…. I didn’t do at that time. Then I said truely. I’m so sorry mom. I haven’t do it yet.
All right. Would you like doing it out of the class? Don’t come back here before finish it yet. She
punished me.
Yes, mom. I answered.

Alice : Thanks, I’d love to. But, hang on for a second. I have to ask my mom. …… Mom, can I

Mrs. Benson : Let me see. Don’t you have any homework to do? (teasing).
Alice : Mom, it is only for two hours. OK?

But your brother doesn’t give you permission because he will go somewhere by it.

Situation 3
You are doing English test in the classroom together with your friend. According to you the item
of the test is very easy so you have finished it before the time is up. You ask permission to your
teacher to leave early. Your teacher agrees as long as you have already finished all of the item
test.

Anto go to school by motor cycle. In the street he meets Suryo walking in the street. He offering
to Suryo to go together with him by his motor cycle. Suryo accept the Anto’s invitation and say
thank you to him.

Situation 3
Mrs. Tina goes to market and buy many vegetables and fruit. At the street she meets to Doni. He
is offering to help her bring something to go home. Mrs Tina accepts his help and say thank you.

Read the following text carefully and answer the questions that follow:

In Canada and United States, people enjoy entertaining at home. They often invite friends over
for meal a party, or just for coffee and conversation. Here are the kinds of thing people say when
they invite someone to their home:
“Would you like to come over for dinner Saturday night?”
“Hey, we are having a party on Friday. Can you come?”
To reply to an invitation, either say thank you and accept, or say you are sorry and give an
excuse:
“Thanks, I would love to. What time would you like me to come?” or “Oh sorry. I have tickets
for movies.”
Sometimes, however, people use expressions that sound like invitations. For example:
“Please come over for drink sometimes”
“Let’s get together for lunch soon.”
“Why don’t you come over and see us sometimes soon?”

These are really just polite ways of ending conversations. They are not real invitations because
they don’t mentions a specific time or date. They just show that the person is trying to be
friendly. To reply to expressions like these, people just say: “Sure, that would be great!” or “OK,
yes, thanks.”
So, next time you hear what sounds like an invitation, listen carefully. Is it a real invitation or is
the person just being friendly?
