Material, information, and knowledge are important to support business processes. The business processes must be well designed and coordinated to enhance the performance of a business, therefore some business processes are part of larger encompassing processes. Some business processes are tied to a specific functional area, while the rest of them cross many different functional areas and require coordination across departments. In business process, there are main four functional area: manufacturing and production, sales and marketing, finance and accounting, and human resources. For instance, the four functional areas must work together to perform a customer order. Transaction Processing Systems (TPS) is a system for different management groups which perform and record the daily routine transaction to support business process. Using TPS, a manager could monitor the status of internal operations and the firm’s relation with the external. Systems for Business Intelligence is a contemporary term for data and software tools for organizing, analyzing, and providing access to data to help managers and other enterprise users make more informed decisions. The Management Information Systems (MIS) provide middle managers with reports of the organization performance. Decision-Support Systems (DSS) focus on problems that are unique and rapidly changing. Executive Support Systems (ESS) answer nonroutine decisions requiring judgement, evaluation, and insight. Implementing Enterprise Applications may help the business to coordinate and integrate the business processes, which contains of: Enterprise System or Enterprise Planning System (ERP) to integrate business processes form all aspects of a business; Supply Chain Management Systems (SCM) to manage relationship with their suppliers; Customer Relationship Management Systems (CRM) to manage relationship with their customers; Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) to manage processes for capturing and applying knowledge and expertise. Intranets are internal company websites that only can be accessed by employees while extranets are accessible for everyone. Collaboration is working with others to achieve shared and explicit goals. The reason why we need collaboration are changing nature of work, growth of professional work, changing organization of the firm, changing scope of the firm, emphasis on innovation, and changing culture of work and business. Nowadays so many businesses embracing social business to engage employees, suppliers, and customers because of big benefit they get from implementing it. Tools for collaboration include email and instant messaging, wikis, virtual meeting systems, virtual worlds, cloud-based sharing service, and other social media networking tools. Information Systems Department is the formal organizational unit responsible for information technology services that consists of programmers, systems analysts, and leaded by information systems managers. They headed by Chief Information Officer (CIO), secured by Chief Security Officer (CSO), guarded by Chief Privacy Officer (CPO), the knowledge behind it is manage by Chief Knowledge Officer (CKO), and Chief Data Officer (CDO) is responsible for enterprise-wide governance and utilization of information to maximize the value from it. The result of their work will be used and represent by the end users.
