Part 1: After checking the Unit 1 Topic 2: Modal Verbs, write 1 sentence using each one of
the modal verbs regarding your duties and rights at home: can – could – may - must - should

Part 3: Write a text about how you imagine your city in fifty years. Use at least two pictures
related to your text. You should write four paragraphs:

Each paragraph must have minimum four (4) sentences and maximum six (6) sentences. It must

MY CITY´S FUTURE

Introduction. Many times, I ask myself, how will the future be in some years? In fifty years,
things will turn into something very different. I imagine a better tomorrow, where humanity
will have made many discoveries for our benefit. On the other hand, we could have destroyed
the world we know today, it´s very possibly. Therefore, we should start looking after this
planet because the future can be very uncertain.

Public transport will not be a problem, because the people will be able travel by
teleportation. The flying cars should be the solution to the vehicular chaos that we have to
suffer in this city today. Train transport will break down and it will become obsolete. The
spaceships will take off without airstrips and they might take us away to the moon or mars.
Health services will have improved a lot, I imagine. Scientists could have find out the cure of
many diseases such as cancer and AIDS. The future doctors and nurses must be robots and
machines that will carry out very complicated surgeries. Visits to hospitals and clinics are not
going to be necessary, since people will do medical consultations through the Internet.

The economy in my city, I think about it is going to have a very important change. Virtual
money and online shopping will turn into our daily life forever. The banks and commercial
areas are going to disappear in physical way. We will have to manage a single currency
worldwide and we could save up money through virtual banks.
