Evening Prayer

O gracious Light, pure brightness of the ever-living Father
in heaven, O Jesus Christ, holy and blessed! Now as I
come to the setting of the sun, and my eyes behold the
evening light, I sing your praises, O God: Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit. You are worthy at all times to be praised by
happy voices, your glory fills the whole world.
Prayer of Confession
Almighty God, I confess that I am often swept up in the
tide of my generation. I fail in my calling to be holy, set
apart for your divine purpose. I live more in apathy born
of fatalism than in passion born of hope. I dream more of
privilege and benefits than of service and sacrifice. I try to
speak your name without relinquishing my glory, without
nourishing my soul, and without relying wholly on your
grace. Help me make room in my heart and life for you.
Forgive me, revive me, and reshape me in your image.
Amen.
