At the end of a 60-minute period and with the use of pocket chart, base blocks and other visual aids,
100% of the Grade III pupils will be able to do the following with 75% mastery.
A. solve the two digit number addition with regrouping;
B. use the base blocks to regroup the number according to its place value;
C. respond actively to different activities;

II.SUBJECT MATTER
A. Topic: Addition of two digit number with regrouping
B. Materials: Visual Aids, pocket chart and base blocks
C. Reference: Mathematics for dynamic minds pp. 45-49
D. Values Integration: Cooperation, helpfulness

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Opening Prayer
2. Checking of cleanliness

3.Checking of attendance

4. Drill
 Write "8+2"on the board with "8" on top and "2" on the bottom.
 Ask students what 8 plus 2 equals.
 When they say 10, write the zero under the 8 + 2 and 1 to the left in the invisible 10s
spot.
 Next write a 1 in front of the 8 and change it to 18+2.
 Ask your students how they would think to solve this problem.

8 8 8 What if:
+ 2 + 2 + 2 18
? 0 10 + 2
Correct ?
B. Presentation
 Get their previous knowledge about place value by giving an example of number such as
2567.
 Underline each digit of a number and let them identify what digit is in the value of ones,
tens, hundreds and thousands. ( 2 5 6 7 )
 Make a column where they can put each digit according to its place value.

Ones Tens Hundreds Thousands

 Give at least 3-5 examples of multi-digit numbers
 Proceed on today’s lesson, adding two digit numbers with regrouping.
 Use pocket chart in on this lesson so that it will be easier for the pupils to use the base
blocks in regrouping the value of a digit.

IV. GENERALIZATION

 Write a given on the board and let them solve it. Call for a volunteer or you may just call anyone
who wants to answer.
 As they solve it on the board, check if they follow the rules in adding two digits with
regrouping.
 You may still use the base blocks if necessary.
 Give more examples to check if they learned the important steps in solving it.

V. APPLICATION

 Divide the pupils into 3 groups for a group work. Distribute the chalk boards, chalk and round
rags.
 Write the given on the board and all the groups are about to write their answers on the
chalkboards. When the count is over they need to raise their boards and stop answering. The
group who will first get 5 points will be the winning group.

VI. EVALUATION
Add the following:

1) 12 2) 25 3) 27 4) 73 5) 79
+ 18 + 38 + 27 + 18 + 45

VII. ASSIGNMENT
