Mrs. Glody D. Casio is a SPED teacher in Crisanto Guysayco

Memorial Elementary School (CGMES) in Nagcarlan, Laguna. She is
not a full - fledged educator because she is a graduate of AB
Psychology and only took 18 units to continue teaching SPED
students. She has a 14-year teaching experience in a private school.
She chose teaching profession because she became fond of teaching
children with special needs and she felt that this is her passion.
Teaching SPED is not easy, she had a hard time and sacrifices for
the children and needs to think new strategies on teaching to get the
attention of the students. But out of those hardships and sacrifices
in teaching, knowing that her students have passed each grade level
of special education is her greatest achievement. Many parents are
sending gratitude to her for being a patient and flexible educator.
Inspite of having a hard time in teaching SPED children, Mrs.
Cashio spared some time in giving important lessons and tips. One
is that, as a future educator we must practice flexibility in our work
because of the different attitudes of children. As a SPED teacher, she
always practice flexibility in work because of her students
uniqueness. Second is, to become a teacher, we don’t need to be
intelligent, as long as we have the passion in teaching we can make
our job lighter and easier. The third important lesson that Mrs.
Cashio shared is to love the teaching profession.
Based on the interview, Mrs. Cashio focuses on her students
uniqueness. Being a SPED teacher, her students are different from
each other so she needs to know what her students needs in order to
learn. She act as a scaffold for her students in order for them to
absorb all the information she delivers.
If there are questions that the interviewer did not ask, all of the
questions are asked and answered by the speaker clearly. The
questions are very precise that the speaker easily understood and
answered the questions on the spot.
The classroom where the interview takes place is really colorful.
The wall have a mural of a garden and flowers, very appropriate for
the children with special needs. The table is arranged properly and
the folders are placed in an organized order. Also the table is fully
covered up to the edge to avoid the children get hurt. The classroom
is well lightened and well ventilated which makes it easier to work
on.
