Basic Composition (from top to bottom)

Liquid: Water & Solvent
Pigment
Additive
Binder – vehicle or carrier of pigment and desired properties

Solvent – used to disperse particles, depends on the binder and drying speed
required

True Solvent – dissolve basic film

Acid acceptors or Magnesia or Zinc Oxide prevents discoloration (personal

inference)

Pigment should easily disperse

PROCESS

Volume of dry solids is directly proportional to Hiding Power

Hiding power is opacity and contrast ratio

SSPC -> Standard Surface Paint Conditioning

Acceptable Quality Limit – meeting client’s specs
