ANTENNA ANALYSIS

Objective:
Analyze the radiation pattern of different types of antennas.

Required:
EZNEC demo.

Results:
 Dipole Antenna:

Antenna
Radiation Pattern(AZIMUTH PLANE)

Radiation Pattern(ELEVATION PLANE)

Radiation Pattern(3-D)

o The total length of dipole antenna is half the wavelength corresponding to the
frequency to be used.
o The Radiation Pattern in Azimuth plane of a dipole antenna is big circle where the
slice max gain is 2.16 dBi.
o In Elevation radiation pattern of dipole lobes are no longer circular. They are
flattered out and beam width of dipole is 77.4 degree at -3dB.
o This 3-D pattern shows that its an omni directional antenna in which radiations
are equally distributed in all directions and it has bagel shape.
 Yagi Antenna:

Antenna

Radiation Pattern(AZIMUTH PLANE)

Radiation Pattern (ELEVATION PLANE)

Radiation Pattern(3-D)

o It is a highly directive antenna in which we can see that the minor lobes are
supressed whereas the major lobe is increased.
o The slice margin gain achieved here is 9.58 dB in both the elevation and azimuth
plot
o In the 3D plot, the radiation pattern are mainly in one direction, hence more gain
in one plane so we can say it is unidirectional, with the foremost lobe alongside
the axis perpendicular to the factors in the plane of the elements, off the cease
with the directors.

 Log Periodic Antenna:

Antenna

Radiation Pattern (AZIMUTH PLANE)

Radiation Pattern (ELEVATION PLANE)

Radiation Pattern(3-D)

o This is also a directional antenna. In which the gain of the antenna is mostly in the
one plane or I one direction,
o In the azimuth plot we can observe that the front lobe and main lobe s are being
formed with the relatively more radiation in the main lobe.
o In the elevation plot, it just a circle passing through the points where the gain is
3.66 dBi.
o The 3D plot is also giving us a outlook of the directivity of this antenna.

Conclusion:
To conclude, we have successfully analyzed the radiation pattern of dipole, yagi and log periodic
antenna’s in which we have seen that different antenna leads to different gains.
