CONCLUSION

For the conclusion, any heat pump has an ideal coefficient of performance (COP). But
in reality, the coefficient of performance is less than the ideal value. In this experiment, the
thermodynamic cycle of vapor – compression heat pump and refrigerator were studied. The
heat pump worked on a vapor-compression cycle in which the refrigerant flew through four
processes; evaporation at low pressure and temperature, compression to high pressure,
condensation at high pressure and temperature and expansion by throttling from high pressure
to low pressure. The objective of the experiment is to produce the performance of heat pump
curves over a range of source and delivery temperature. From the results, the values of COP H
for every one of the tests are 2.121, 3.423, 3.146, 2.488 and 1.983 individually. The values of
the coefficient of performance is increasing throughout the experiment. From the results, it can
be concluded that the heat pump functioning with a high percent of flow rate have higher
efficiency compare to the lower flow rate. Based on the graph of performance curves of heat
pump versus water outlet temperature (TT6), COPH and heat output increase at the start but
were gradually decreasing until the end as the power input was increasing. This shown that
when the cooling flow rate decreased, the heat output also decreased which in this experiment.
So, based on the results that has been obtain, the purpose of experiment was achieved.

RECOMMENDATION

There are a few steps that needed to be overcome while conducting this experiment.
First, consultation is compulsory in order to make sure the experiment are conducted properly.
Second, to make sure that the machine in good conditions and the experiment are been doing
wrong, students have to understand the general start up and general shut down. Next, before
the experiment begin, ensure that the mechanical heat pump should run and warm up early for
15 minutes. It should be notice that, surrounding in the laboratory also affect the result, thus it
hard to get an accurate reading. Last, while running the experiment, if some technical problems
occur directly ask the technician to overcome the problems.
