Nestle have been working to develop a healthy society and it has been a large food & beverage
company in the world for 150 years. Nestle has been working hard to provide quality food for
the world’s consumer. Since nestle has over 500 factories or production base in 76 countries
and sells their product all over the world, nestle do need to improve their technologies in order
to be effective and competitive in this world. Technology has helped nestle to grow in terms of
profitability and quality for their products. Nestle has improved their technologies in terms of
skills of labours, procedures, techniques and competences. Technologies that have been used
by nestle worldwide is

 Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)


Nestle have been utilizing enterprise resource planning in their manufacturing base or
factories all of the world and these technology is computer based system that is used to
manage all the internal and external resources such as tangible assets, financial resources
,materials and human resources .By using ERP system in nestle organization, nestle have
gained a better work flow in their organization such as nestle have a better connection or
flow of information between their suppliers, and all their business partners as well as
stakeholders. Nestle have reduced the usage of large number of software’s in their
manufacturing plant or base by introducing ERP system and ERP system basically cut
down unwanted process in the manufacturing line or process. Introduction of ERP system
in nestle have been profitable for the organization and is vital nestle to be competitive in
current business climate.

 Foam Booster Technology


Nestle have developed a new technology that will produce coffee with less fat and which
is much denser while the coffee will be long lasting than regular. These were achieved with
the help of Foam Booster Technology and the famous Nescafe Cappuccino is created using
the new technology. Through these technologies, nestle have gained the market share for
packaged coffee products in the world.

 Large-Batch and Mass Production Technology


Since nestle have been producing food products with large quantity, nestle has implemented
the usage of large-batch technology such as increasing the usage of machine and equipment
in the manufacturing. Through this process, the food products are produced in large
quantity and better quality, while decease the usage of human labours in the process and
this have helped nestle to save money on production and charge a lower price for its
products.

 Healthier Fats
Nestle have successfully found the technology that would allow nestle to use natural
vegetable oil in their products rather than using chemicals such as partially hydrogenated
fats in their products such as Maggi bouillon cubes and seasonings.
Recommendation on use of Technology

Nestle have been already using the latest technology and processes in their business but nestle
need to restructure their use of technology in the organization, in order to survive and
continuous be successful in the food and beverage industry. Nestle need to adapt to the latest
trends and the needs of the society in order to sustain their business and these should be done
by adapting the new technologies and process which will be helpful to the organization such
as having collaboration with other food and beverage companies ,in order to have the latest
technologies for food production. Nestle need to restructure their use of their technologies in
the manufacturing line by adapting several specific processes such as

 System Application and Products (SAP)


Nestle should use System application and products (SAP) technology in their organization
to facilitate the feedback between workers and the organization. This is due to nestle having
a large number of employees in 191 countries and nestle does not have a proper
technologies or system to engage with their employees and to standardize performance
management and development of each department of nestle in the world. By utilising and
introducing SAP technology in the organization, nestle can empower a modern digital
workforce such as employees having access to cloud-first, mobile-enabled and flexible HR
platform. This will help nestle to standardize the process of work and nestle can increase
profit by directing the management in all the bases towards a same goal.

 Training on new Technologies


Training should be provided to the staff as a new technology is introduced by Nestle’s
learning and sharing program. A program called manufacturing improvement techniques
program (MITP) provided by Smallpeice Enterprises should be introduced to train the
managers. This kind of program basically consists of softer management issues of change,
how to handle resistance to change, planning and running projects, leadership, and team
building and communication skills. This would help Nestle becoming a learning
organization and would provide its staff the confidence to deal with the changes in
technology taking place. The course would also help improve the culture of the company,
teamwork and high performance by the staff. Moreover, companies who have trained their
staff with MITP course has seen significant and a wide development in the Knowledge
sector of their respective companies such as IBM.
