Okowa Advocates for Entrepreneurship Training in


Schools
On Sunday, February 23rd, Governor
Ifeanyi Okowa, challenged Nigerian
universities to prepare graduates for
entrepreneurship. The Governor
stated this at a reception in honour of
the Vice Chancellor of Delta State
University, Abraka, Prof. Andy
Egwuyenga.

“Graduates of Nigerian universities


should compete favourably with their
peers across the world. Our
Universities should also ensure that
our graduates are able to gainfully
employ themselves through
innovation,” Okowa said.

Okowa Administration Donates Utility Pickup Trucks to


Security Agencies
O n M o n d a y, F e b r u a r y 2 4 t h , t h e D e l t a S t a t e
Government, under the leadership of Governor Ifeanyi
Okowa, donated 35 pickup vehicles to the security
agencies operating in Delta State. Commenting on the
donation on his social media handles, Governor Okowa
said:

“Addressing insecurity requires constant collaboration


amongst the government, our security agencies, and
our citizens. This is why, today, I was delighted to
officially handover 35 pickup vehicles to the various
security agencies in Delta State.

“These vehicles have been procured to facilitate the


movement of our security operatives — as we work to
boost their effectiveness and quicken their response
times to emergencies that occur across our state.

"Moving forward, it is my hope that issues like


kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism and herdsmen
attacks in Delta State will be curbed as we continue to
partner with our communities and security agencies to
achieve the desired results.”

Delta State Government Approves Construction of 4


New Roads; Rehabilitation of 11 Others
On Tuesday, February 25th, the Delta
State Government approved the
rehabilitation of 11 new roads and the
construction of 4 new ones.

The Commissioner for Information, Mr.


Charles Aniagwu, disclosed this to
newsmen at the end of the State
Executive meeting in Asaba.

The approved roads for construction are:


1.Ekuku-Agbor/Agbor Obi road;
2. Obomkpa road;
3. Omene Street connecting Akintola
Road; and
4. The Sapele, Darfruks Road Otefe.

Okowa Inspects Sites of FRSC Training School,


Diagnostic Hospital in Ika North LGA
On Tuesday, February 25th, while
inspecting the site of the Federal Road
Safety Corps (FRSC) Training School in
Owa Oyibu, Ika North East LGA, Governor
Ifeanyi Okowa stated that the project
would be completed in September 2020.

"The contractors are building to approved


standards and have given us their
assurances that the work will be
completed before the end of June —
which means that it will be operational
from September,“ Okowa said.

The Governor also inspected the


construction at the site of the Mother and
Child Hospital and Diagnostic Centre in
Owa Alero.

Okowa Calls on Role Models to Mentor Nigeria’s
Youth
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has charged
parents, guardians and teachers not to relent
in teaching their children moral values and
principles that will shape their future and
produce a better society.

Governor Okowa disclosed this in Asaba, at


the maiden edition of “Time Out with a Role
Model” — a workshop organised by the State
Orientation Bureau for young people,
focusing on public and private school
children.

Governor Okowa, who was represented by


the Commissioner for Youth Development,
Mr. Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, stated that as future
leaders, youth need to be consciously
mentored by models and mentors who will
help to instill positive morals and values in
them.

#CoronaVirus: Delta Puts Health Institutions on


Precautionary ‘Code Red Alert’
On Friday, February 28th, the Delta State
Government said that it has put all
health institutions and disease control
mechanisms in the state on red alert —
as a precautionary measure — following
the outbreak of the Coronavirus disease
in Lagos State.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mordi


Ononye disclosed this while briefing
newsmen in Asaba.

Dr. Ononye disclosed that all hospitals


across the state have been mandated to
designate an isolated area as a
detention centre for any case of the
disease
