Setup Pricemart on your PC

There are 4 steps required to install and setup your PC:

1. Create the database (ODBC) connection.
2. Download the excel add-in from the Pricemart web-page.
3. Add the excel add-in to Microsoft excel

Create the database(ODBC) connection:

The following instructions are written for windows 2000. The process is similar on older
versions of windows but some of the wording and screen shots will look different. If you
have problems defining this connection please contact the Pricemart Administrator at
Mossville extension 8-8281 (1-309-578-8281, or tie line 7-728-8281).

1. Click start, settings, control panel, administrative tools, data sources (ODBC) and
the following window appears. Click on the System DSN tab, as shown with the
red arrow. Then click on the Add button.

 2. Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select SQL Server. Then click on the
finish button.

3. The “Create a New Data Source to SQL Server” window will appear. Fill in the
name, description, and server fields as shown below and click next.

 4. The following screen appears, click on the client configuration button. On the
“Edit Network Library Configuration” window, select the TCP/IP button and
verify the computer name and port number are as shown below. Click OK, then
click on Next.

Leave the default settings and click next.

6. Leave the default settings and click Finish.

 7. On the next window click on the Test Data Source button, verify that the “TESTS
COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!” message appears. Then click OK on all the
open windows to close out the setup process.

This completes the first part in the setup process.

Download the excel add-in from the Pricemart web-page.

In order to use the excel functions (=price, =featuretopart, ….) the Pricemart excel add-in
needs to be downloaded and configured on your PC. There are just a couple of steps,
outlined below, to complete this process:

1. Open your internet browser (i.e. Internet Explorer) and go to the Pricemart
home page on the Cat Power Net
(https://engines.cat.com/infocast/frames/support/pss/PriceMart/).

2. RIGHT click on the Pricemart Excel Add-In link and select “Save Target As”.

 3. Save this file in c:\program files\coe Microsoft office 2000\office\library (this
is the path for Windows 2000 users, but should be similar to this for other
windows operating systems). The filename to save this is “pricemart.xla”,
make sure the file suffix is xla. Then click on Save.

4. On the download complete window click SAVE, and then you can close your
internet browser.

 Add the excel add-in to Microsoft excel.
1 Open Microsoft Excel and make sure that a workbook is open. On the toolbar
select tools, add-ins. On the Add-Ins window click on the box next to
Pricemart and then click OK. There should now be a Pricemart option on
your toolbar as shown in the second screen below.
