CIRCULAR

In partial modification to the existing technical specifications of electrical works, following will be
applicable to all installations:

Mounting heights for switch sockets/ light switches/ MCB DB

Switch socket out lets/ light switches/ MCB DB shall be mounted, as per the CPWD general specifications
for Electrical works, Part- 1, internal 2005, at a level mentioned below unless specified otherwise. All
dimensions noted below shall be from Finished Floor Level to the bottom line of the face plate.

1. Light Switches 1250 mm

2. 5A/6A and 15A/16A switch socket out lets:

i. Rooms in residences 230mm or any other level in special cases as

desired by the engineer-in-charge.

ii. Kitchen 230mm above working platform and away from

the likely positions of stove & sink.

iii. Bathrooms/ Toilets Sockets will be 2000mm for the Geyser above FFL
and at least 1000mm away from the shower. The
switch will be at 1500 mm above FFL.

1250 mm from FFL for hand dryer in toilets.

iv. Labs 230 mm above platform and without any

platform 1250 mm above FFL.

v. General Wards Nurses call bell point, Bed power point, bed light,
telephone point etc. shall be at 1250 mm above
FFL without tiles on wall. If tiles are there –total
height of tiles 150+1200+150=1500mm- height of
socket 50mm above the tiles.
vi. ICU/Pre-OT/Post OT Normally Bed head panels are provided in these
areas. For bed head one box will be provided
with 4sq.mm wire at the mounting height of bed
head unit. If no bed head panel then height will
be as per above.

vii. Geyser Point in labs Switch at a height of 230 mm above platform or

1250 mm above FFL without any platform.
Socket should be near the geyser.

 viii. Guest House Power points, light points, telephone points, on
both sides of the bed shall be 600 mm above FFL/
Depending on the height of the bed and for the
rest of the part it is 230 mm as mentioned.

ix. Basements 1250 mm above FFL.

x. TV points For wall mounted TV, power point, signal and TV

point shall be at a height of 1000mm/1250 mm
above FFL/ as per fixing height of TV so that
socket will be behind the TV.

xi. Office/consultant room As per furniture layout Height of power

point/computer point/data point will be 230mm

3. MCB DB 1500 mm above FFL

Note: Height will be measured from FFL to bottom point of the Switch Socket/ MCB DB
