D. LESSON PROPER:
a. ACTIVITY:
I. PROBLEM SOLVED
Direction: Observe and analyze the problem below. Answer the guide questions below.
1. A: If a 20 KB file is stored in a 1 MB folder how many files can be stored in that folder?
B: 1 KB = 1,024 BYTES ; 1MB= 1,048,576 BYTES
C: 20 * 1,024 = 20,480 bytes in a 20 KB file
1,048,576 / 20,480 = 51.2
D: 51 Files

GUIDE QUESTIONS:
1. Identify the letter that represents the conversion units.
2. Which of the following letter represents the solution?
3. What letter represents the problem?
4. Identify the letter that represent the answer.
5. Based on the problem above, explain how it comes up with the final answer. (State the process
or steps in calculating the data storage).

II. CALCULATIONS
Direction: Calculate the data storage as situated in the problems below. Show your solution.

1KB=1,024 BYTES

1MB= 1,048,576 BYTES

1GB=1,073,741,824 BYTES

1TB= 1,099,511,627,776 BYTES

1. How many 60KB jpg files can be stored on a 2MB folder in your hard drive?
2. If a 10KB file is stored in a 1MB folder, how many files can be stored in that folder?

b. ANALYSIS:
1. Reporting of student’s answer on their activity (by group)
2. Let the students answer the following question:
 What is the process in calculating the data storage?
 Identify the important factors that is need to be considered in calculating data storage.

c. ABSTRACTION:
“CALCULATING DATA STORAGE”
While a bit is the smallest representation of data, the most basic unit of digital storage is the byte. A byte is 8 bits
and is the smallest unit of measure (UOM) used to represent data storage capacity. When referring to storage
space, we use the terms bytes (B), kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB), and terabytes (TB). One
kilobyte is a little more than one thousand bytes, specifically 1,024. A megabyte represents more than a million
bytes or 1,048,576. A gigabyte is 1,073,741,824 bytes. A terabyte is 1,099,511,627,776.

For example:
A file is 20 KB in size
1 KB = 1,024 Bytes
20 * 1,024 = 20,480 bytes in a 20 KB file
If a 20 KB file is stored in a 1 MB folder (1 MB = 1,048,576 bytes of space); then
Approximately a total of 51 files can be stored in that folder (1,048,576 / 20,480 = 51.2).

GENERALIZATION: Answer each question briefly.

1. How will you calculate the data storage?
2. Enumerate the important factors that is need to be considered in calculating the data storage.
d. APPLICATION:
Direction: Perform the following calculation by using the fundamental mathematical operation.
Show your solution.
1. How many 750 MB avi files can be stored on a 4.3 GB DVD?
2. The total memory storage is 4GB. If the available space is 48MB. How many gigabytes are
already consumed? (1 MB= 1,048,576 bytes) ; (1GB= 1,073,741,824 bytes)

E. ASSESSMENT:
Direction: Perform the following calculation by using the fundamental mathematical operation. Show your
solution.
1. How many 850 MB avi files can be stored on a 4GB DVD?
2. The total memory storage is 2GB. If the available space is 98MB. How many gigabytes are already
consumed? (1 MB= 1,048,576 bytes) ; (1GB= 1,073,741,824 bytes)

F. ASSIGNMENT:
In a 1/4 sheet of paper, Search the following:
1. Define flowchart.
2. What are the basic flowchart symbols?
3. Enumerate the elements of a flowchart.
