TEENS TWO FINAL EXAM Paper 4
Time allowed: 1h.30 min.
SECTION A: Reading Comprehension
Read the text below. Are the sentences true (T) or false (F)?

Teenager Saves Tourist in Rainforest

It is not easy to survive in the rainforest. A tourist was lost for a week in the rainforest of Queensland,
north-eastern Australia. He had the worst time of his life and said he survived on bananas and potato
crisps.
But Stuart Riddle was lucky. A fifteen-year-old girl on a helicopter rescued him after he used a mirror to
reflect sunlight. Riddle, 27, explained: “I left my car because I wanted to get a closer look at wild animals.
But when I turned back, it was really dark. I couldn’t find my car. My cellphone had no signal. And I didn’t
have a map.”
Fortunately, Riddle had a lot of water to drink – he was in the wettest part of Australia – but he was very
hungry. “I only had four bananas and a packet of crisps in my backpack.” And he was also worried about
snakes – one of the most famous snakes in the world lives in the Queensland rainforest: the taipan. “One
bite from that snake, and you are dead in 15 minutes.”
Riddle saw helicopters during a week but he couldn’t get their attention. Finally, a teenage helicopter
passenger, Suzy Ward, saw the light from the mirror. When the helicopter picked up Riddle, the tourist
was very sorry. “It was a bad idea to leave my car. But thanks to Suzy, I am alive.”
