Article: How Technology Is Driving Us Toward Peak Globalization

Garrett, B. started the article by stating that the natural resources like fuel, coal,

food will be depleted soon if the world still spends the same exhausting way. He

explained the road to peak globalization consists of new technologies and innovative

businesses. One of the biggest contributions of technology is the digitization of mostly

everything. An example he cited in the article is the digital copy of the previous

hard-copied books. The reproduction of those copies does not cost anything at all.

Trees would not be cut down for the sake of making papers.

The further development in technologies focuses on the sustainable

development, which conserves the resources found in the world. A great example would

be the automotives studies today. Different car companies are looking for a way to

optimize the fuel consumption of vehicles. There are some who opt to electrification of

vehicles, and some are simply improving their machines. He stated in the article that it

will take some more decades before the phasing out of fossil fuel. As of today,

renewable energy greatly depends on solar energy. However, the world is on the way to

develop renewable sources of energy.

Article: How globalization is changing innovation

The article is about the worldwide diffusion of knowledge and technology and its

effects. The author, Otaviano Canuto, cited that the growth and development in

economies are slowing down. He stated that the world is having a low productivity rate

based on WEO data.

One of the key factors in development, as the author stated, is the transition of

adoption, to adaptation, and then invention. Countries like China and South Korea, they

started from adoption and now they are innovating. Supportive environment enriches

the innovation of people. Countries supporting researchers will greatly impact their

productivity and innovation. The author stated that this is the main reason for the slow

progress in global innovation.

Article: Role of Technology in Globalization with Reference to Business Continuity

The article states that the vital force of modern business globalization is

technology. Technology gives out various platforms that can enhance the work of

people. The transition from manual to electronic service in different sectors gave

advancements in the business community worldwide.

“Technology has helped us in overcoming the major hurdles of globalization and

international trade”, the authors stated. The delay in information exchange is one of the

greatest obstacles experienced by people. Technology was able to overcome this

problem by providing the internet. The existence of the internet allows the data to be

transferred almost instantly to other places, enterprises, or people.

Technology provided more opportunities for the market to evolve. One of the

most popular markets today is online retailing. Even in our country, online markets are

widely used nowadays. The ease in shopping is the main attraction for the consumers.

Article: Globalization, Technology, and Income Inequality A Critical Analysis

The article dissects the income distribution in advanced countries for both

globalization and skill-based technology. Their research found out that developed

countries put interest in hiring skilled workers. With the demand in hiring skilled workers,

the existence of wage difference came out. The article disclaims the involvement of

trade and technology are the only catalyst to the increase in income inequality.

However, globalization and technology are considered to be significant contributors to

the increase in income inequality.

I think it is reasonable to have differences in the wages of the workers based on

their skill. Ideally, a skilled employee will be more efficient and productive in his work

than the unskilled employee. If one employee has the skill to work on a certain

technology which others cannot, then the skilled employee has an edge which must be

compensated. Maybe, that is why developed countries choose skilled workers over

unskilled workers in spite of their wage difference.
