Ecotourism Holidays
Ecotourism holidays are essentially a form of tourism involving visiting fragile
environments, and relatively undisturbed natural habitats, intended to benefit locals and
preserve the natural world. These holidays are low-impact and small scale alternative to
standard commercial (mass) tourism. Whether you want to call them eco holidays,
responsible travel, ecotourism holidays or sustainable tours, it doesn’t really
matter. What IS for sure is that this is key to the type of travel that Tribes loves to
organise for travellers such as yourself. Not only are we very good at it, but we’re
recognised global award-winners for responsible holidays such as this ”“ so you’ve
come to the right place. Welcome - we already have a lot in common! But to help you
further, we need to know a bit more about what you’re hoping for with your holiday.
It’s great heading off to Europe to enjoy Spanish or French beaches, or even staying at home to
chill out in Cornwall if our weather is being kind! However if you decide to go further afield we
can suggest some wonderful and unusual beach holiday destinations for you to consider.
Spa Holidays
Enough! You’ve had enough! It’s time to get away, to give yourself the space to be
yourself – not a parent, spouse, boss, assistant… just you. For the times when a short
break on a beach or a long walk in the hills just doesn’t cut it, there needs to be places
you can go to refresh yourself, body and mind.
Andthereare.
Here are two gorgeous places in India that we know and love. A week of therapies and
treatments in either of these retreats is like a spring clean for the soul and the body. Time
to find yourself again
Cruise Holidays
Be it by river or sea, journeys by water can get you to some unique and even remote
places, and offer you different perspectives on the world. Sometimes there is no other
way to explore – how else would you get a chance to see Antarctica or the glaciers of
Chilean Patagonia?
We are not into cruises for the sake of cruises. Cruises with thousands of people crammed
onto floating metropolises are just not our thing.
Family Holidays
All of us with children know that it’s not always easy to give our kids all the attention we
would like to. Life gets in the way doesn’t it? A family holiday can give us the time we
need to re-engage in a positive way, and to enjoy each other’s company. It also gives
us a chance to get the kids away from the X-Box or computer games; encourage them to
see the big wide world in real life; and allow them to try new or possibly life-changing
experiences
We understand that such very special holidays hold a lot of hopes, expectation and important
meaning. We know that in your shoes we’d want the best service, the best possible experiences
and we’d want to trust that things will be done right and not go wrong.
Group Holidays
You will find a range of small group set departures here. These are holidays which have a
specific date and itinerary, and anyone can join these groups.
Tribes believes that smaller rather than larger groups have more fun, and cause less negative
impact on environments and communities, so most of our group trips are for between 8 and 12
people.
Most of these holidays are not exclusive to Tribes. They are however run by people we have
vetted and we trust, and who we know offer good services to our clients. This includes good
guiding, safe vehicles, and special experiences.
What is Markup?
Markup refers to the difference between the selling price of a good or service
and its cost. It is expressed as a percentage above the cost. In other words, it is
the added price over the total cost of the good or service that provides the
seller with a profit.
Vouchers are used in the tourism sector primarily as proof of a named customer's right to take a
service at a specific time and place. Service providers collect them to return to the tour operator
or travel agent that has sent that customer, to prove they have given the service. So, the life of a
voucher is as below:
1. Customer receives vouchers from tour operator or travel agent for the services purchased
2. Customer goes to vacation site and forwards the voucher to related provider and asks for
the service to be provided
3. Provider sends collected vouchers to the agent or operator that sends customers from time
to time, and asks for payment for those services
4. Uncollected vouchers do not deserve payment
This approach is most suitable for free individual tourist activities where pre-allocation for
services are not necessary, feasible or applicable. It was customary before the information era
when communication was limited and expensive, but now has been given quite a different role
by B2C applications. When a reservation is made through the internet, customers are often
provided a voucher through email or a web site that can be printed. Providers customarily require
this voucher be presented prior to providing the service.
