Applications
These current-limiting circuit-breakers are suitable
for installation in all types of civil, industrial and serv-
ice sector installations, as well as for electrical in-
stallations on board ships, in mines or on oil rigs, as
well as, generally speaking, in any installations where
high power generators and transformers make it pos-
sible for very high short-circuit currents of up to 200kA
at 380/415 V~, 180 kA at 440 V~ and 75 kA at 690 V~
to occur.

Altitude
SACE S3X - S4X - S6X circuit-breakers do not undergo any change in their rated
performance up to a height of 2000 m.
As the height increases, changes occur in the properties of the atmosphere
regarding its composition, dielectric capacity, cooling power and pressure.
The performance of the circuit-breakers therefore undergoes derating that can
essentially be measured in terms of the changes in the main parameters such as
the maximum rated operating voltage and rated uninterrupted current.

Notes
– The contact isolators on the fixed parts of S3-S4 circuit-breakers (plug-in and withdrawable versions) have been modified (during 1997) to
make them suitable for the moving parts of S3X-S4X current-limiting circuit-breakers.
PSIS9651
The “new” contact isolators are supplied in the conversion kit for S3X-S4X models (used for converting them into moving parts). The operation
is simple to perform and can be carried out by the user with the help of the instructions supplied. It enables one to maintain the compatibility
of S3X-S4X models and S3-S4 fixed parts that are already stored in the warehouse or installed.
The modification is not required on S3X or S4X current-limiting circuit-breakers that are supplied complete with fixed parts or on fixed parts
purchased after February 1998.
The contact isolators can be supplied as spare parts if required.
– The existing fixed parts for S3-S4 circuit-breakers are not compatible with current-limiting apparatus if they are fitted with front terminals for
copper cables FC Cu.
