NGA Update Features User Interface and Performance Enhancements


Latest CAMWorks Offers NGA Support for E3 Releasing and MNS Configuration Improvements

Gamewell-FCI by Honeywell is pleased to announce several updates to


the NGA to address the need for additional functionality and enhanced
user experience.

Display is Easier to Read and Use


Visual enhancements are just the beginning. In addition to reducing the
display flicker – especially helpful when new events come in— the on-
screen text is easier to read and main menus have been updated and
improved.
• Larger menu with additional spacing between menu items makes
it easier to access the desired functions.
• New icons are clearer and more consistent with other Gamewell-
FCI displays.
• Greater legibility from updated fonts and fewer on-screen
abbreviations, i.e. the “Reset” button is no longer “RST”.

Features for Improved Maintenance and Installation
To help save time and effort during both installation and service, we’ve added features that simplify system
interaction and we’ve made several performance enhancements.

“Service Mode” is now available via the NGA’s Service menu. This is
a frequently overlooked feature that can save time and aggravation.
When Service Mode is enabled:
• TROUBLES and SUPERVISORIES are acknowledged
automatically, thereby keeping the buzzers quiet and
eliminating the need to individually acknowledge multiple
events
• Password requirements bypassed (except for Level 4),
making navigation and operation faster and easier
• On-screen button indicates Service Mode is ON or OFF. The
activation or deactivation of Service Mode is also logged as an
event in the system log.

Additional improvements simplify configuration and boost performance:


• Enable Silencing is now the default configuration option
• Confirmation message (success/failure) is displayed if the user
updates the NGA’s network map using the “Configure” screen
• Updated Network Query screen and faster scrolling speed.

• To improve uploads/downloads, text printouts (such as event
reports, etc.) via the RS-232 port will be suspended until an
upload/download is complete.

CAMWorks Changes to Support NGA Upgrade

Disabling MNS Tabs for Fire Only Systems


We’ve heard from many customers that the Mass Notification Event tabs cause
confusion when MNS features are not being used. To resolve this, we have
implemented a feature in CAMWorks which removes the MNS alert tabs with
the check of a box! Figure 3 on the right shows the MNS alert tabs removed,
while Figure 4 below illustrates how to do this in CAMWorks.

Please note that this option is selectable ONLY when there is an NGA on the network, and when the system is
configured for Fire Alarm only. For more information and operation on the NGA, please refer to the NGA User
Guide (P/N: 9020-0675).

Availability
These product enhancements are part of NGA v3.30, which is currently shipping. CAMWorks v3.41 is required to
upgrade existing NGA’s to the v3.30 firmware and to support E3 Releasing and the MNS configuration
improvements. To download CAMWorks 3.41 or the new NGA firmware, please visit the Gamewell-FCI ESD
Download page, here. The new graphics package, included with CAMWorks V3.41, must also be downloaded to
the NGA after the firmware upgrade has been completed.
