ABSTRACT

Design a Windbreak Barrier for an

Existing Lagoon Type Anaerobic Digester

The chances of the HDPE liner to be torn off when there is strong wind or a storm is

50% and it may vary with the velocity of the wind. In the layout of the biogas digester

it is the HDPE Liner which is exposed to the environment. Exposure to weathering

factors, especially wind pressure, weakened its capacity to be stretched and

apparently to hold the gas inside the chamber causing it to rip and break.

Since that is the case it is necessary to have a way to solve this major issue

specially on tropical countries where Storming frequently occurs. Since the repair cost

is quite expensive taking into account the 25 years life span of the project,

constructing a structure to mitigate the damages from storm seem a viable solution

to this problem. To collect necessary data and simulation some software are used to

simulate wind flow and wind pressure acting on the HDPE liner.
