ALFREDO YAO

He is the most famous "Juice king" in the Philippines. His business has built legacy on hardwork
and perceiverance. Showing tenacity for doing his best to become better.

In november 23, 1943, Alfredo was born with the simplest of families, and he is the eldest
among the families. At the very young age he need to sacrifice in order to sustain the needs of his
family. He became the bread winner at the age of 12. He starting printing business when he was
17 years old. He never got to finish school even though he wanted to. At the age of 18 he has the
eager to became a sucessful businessman. But before that he suffer a lot im life where in he
exprience the street vendor and at times slept on cardboard box on the side walks.Yao went from
printing and packaging to the beverage industry. He learned printing wrappers through a cousin
who was then working for a printing press. This paved way for him to venture into the printing
press business thus, the birth of Solemar Commercial Press named after his mother.

While he is in europe for business tour in 1979. He tried a new way of packaging which is the
daypack which is sealed in plastic aluminum thats design to stand upright. Days later, he try to
marketed it's local juice manufactures, but none of them showed interest. But he never lost
chance. he started making his own juices in his kitchen and packaged it using the doypacks he
got from Europe he would soon corner the market on juice drinks, thanks to the convenience of
his doypacks.

At 2008, Yao has never been shy away from innovation. He and his company which is the Zest-o
making waves in juice market. He launched Zest Airways and sought to compete with other low-
cost carriers of the country. He realize that he compete other airways just like Air Philippines
and Cebu Pacific Air to name a few. Now the juice king today which is Alfredo yao has gone a
long way from his humble beginnings. He’s still at the helm of Zest-O Group and Zest-O
Corporation.

With his passion and determination he achieved more than he wanted in life. And one of the
important lesson that I've learned you need to sacrifice and never let yourself to be down by
others. Just keep going and never lose hope.

The characteristics I've seen with his business and his life. Is tenacity despite failures. What ever
status he has when he start business. He embrace it to learned in life that someday he will
become a sucessful entrepreneur. Those failures never been him to down instead he use it for
him to become a better person and sucessful juice king or entrepreneur.
