REACTION PAPER

At first, I don’t have any idea about what would be the outcome
of the movie. There were three main characters in the movie namely
Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson. The first
highlight scene in the film left me stunned as Katherine Johnson was
able to calculate difficult equations at a very young age . Katherine,
Dorothy, and Mary were offered to work in NASA on different
departments. The movie illustrated how black people was victim of
racism. The part where Katherine’s coworker told her not to take a
cup of coffee from the kettle because she is colored, was already an
act of racism. Katherine Johnson volunteered to help John Glenn’s
project to be a successful one. As I watched the movie, I have
realized the importance of mathematics in our daily lives. Katherine
Johnson used some parts in calculus which are derivatives, to clearly
identify the latitude and longitude of John Glenn’s take off.
