III METHODOLOGY

This part describes the methods and procedures that will be used to meet the

objectives of the study. This contains the analysis model and research methodology that

will be used in the study.

Research Design

This study will use the descriptive research design. Using the qualitative method,

data will be obtained for the secondary data analysis approach.

Data Collection Method & Research Instruments

Site requirements for passenger ports will be collected through literature search.

Sites data, moreover, will be gathered using the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP)

of Tacloban City, geohazard maps, Google Earth, and practical modelling (translation of

data to model through the use of software such as Autocad, Sketchup, Lumion etc.). The

researchers will also ask for the assistance of the Tacloban City Local Government Unit

(LGU), City Engineers Office (CEO), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) office and Tacloban

City Planning Office in choosing the sites for the ports.

The design and planning standard requirements for sea transport terminals, the

design factors that contribute engaging experience with a sea transport terminal, the

modern technologies and facilities that could be used, the applicable sustainable and

disaster-resilient features, and the laws to conform to when designing a sea transport

terminal will be gathered through literature search.

Methods of Data Utilization for Design

To meet the general objective of the proposed study, the data to be gathered will

be utilized in the architectural design of the proposed Sea Transport Terminals. Site data

of ports will be the basis in determining the accommodation capacity of their facilities

and terminals. The site data of the seaport at Quezon Boulevard and the proposed ports

in Tacloban South and North, will be analyzed and exploited to provide customer

satisfaction through design components like furniture, fixtures, landscapes, and

amenities. Locations of ports will establish the circulation layout that shows the seaports’

network system.

With the design and planning standard requirements for sea transport terminals

and the design factors that contribute engaging experience, indoor spaces will be

established with consideration of their psychological impacts to users. Moreover, modern

technologies and facilities, sustainable features, and disaster-resilient features applicable

to the proposed project will be integrated in the plans and designs of its terminals.

Overall, the project designs will conform to pertinent laws.
