Lesson Listening Comprehension 21st Century Learning Activity:


Development  Tell pupils that they are going to listen to five short dialogues. Communication
Explain that the children at John’s party and they have to tick Critical Thinking
Yes or No according to what they did before the party.
 Ask pupils to read through the five sentences. Make sure they do Formative Assessment:

 Play the CD twice. Peer Assessment

Matching activity
 Prepare a matching activity with verbs + nouns/noun phrases
from listening text (see transcript on Teacher’s Book), e.g. 'dry +
hair', 'wrap + present'.
 Have pupils do this activity. Focus on pupils’ understanding of
the meaning of these verb phrases.

Pop quiz
 Direct pupils’ attention to the picture and ask them to guess what
the children are doing.
 Play the CD and have pupils chorally repeat the exchange.
 Divide pupils into pairs.
 Pupil A closes his/her book and answer his/her partner’s
