How to get an Educational Credential

Assessment (ECA) – University of the
Philippines Diliman

Out of boredom, I am writing about this on a Sunday.

Step 1 – Choose a duly-accredited organization to

process the assessment

Take note that you should choose one which is accredited by the office you need to submit the
ECA to. In my case, I chose World Education Services (WES).

Register an account with WES and provide all the necessary information.

Once you have applied, you should get a reference number. Download the form and fill it out as
needed, as you need to bring this to the Registrar.

You will need to pay. I paid about PHP 8,000+ (I forgot the exact amount in USD).

Step 2 – Request your records from the Office of the

University Registrar

Fill out the necessary request forms, and submit them, along with the WES form, to the TOR
Section. Aside from the forms, the documents you would need to submit to WES are:

1. Certified True Copy of Diploma/s (bring a photocopy of your diploma/s)

2. Certified English Translation of Diploma/s
3. Transcript of Records

Don’t forget to request that the documents be placed in a sealed envelope.

NOTE: If you obtained all your degrees in one University, one WES form should be enough
(that’s what I did), and your documents may be sealed in just one envelope (that’s what I did). I
obtained both my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in one University, so can assure you that that
will work.

You can actually request the registrar to send it to WES directly (they seem familiar with it, costs
somewhere between PHP 1,000 to 2,000). I asked them to just give me the sealed envelope.

If you choose that they send it directly, just monitor whether WES has received it through your
account (Step 4)

Step 3 – Pick-up your documents (in a sealed

envelope) and mail them

Again, you have the option to mail the envelope yourself. Choose a reliable courier. I chose LBC,
and just put the University as the addressee. I paid about PHP 1,400+ for this. I’d say it arrived in a
few days.

Step 4 – Monitor your WES Account

Just monitor the application through WES. You should see when they received the documents,
when the estimated date the report will be finished is, and finally, you can actually view the report
once it is completed.

Mine took about 1.5 months.
