ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The observatory field visit opportunity, we had was a great chance for learning and our
professional development.
First and foremost, we would like to express our deepest sense of gratitude to team
‘Countrybution’, Institute of Leadership and Governance, MSU for giving us this wonderful
opportunity which we would have missed out on, otherwise.
We would like to thank our project mentors, Nirav Patel, Akshay Nair and Nishit for their
guidance which was valuable for our study both theoretically and practically.
Without their assistance and dedicated involvement in every step throughout the process, this
project would never have been a success.
We divided ourselves into 5 teams with 2 members each. We surveyed people from all walks of life
and covering the whole place of visit.
Men, women, young and old were happy to share their views. We collected 78 responses from both
the places. We also took photographs of all services functional and non-functional in the two places.
We had prepared a set of questions and the responses were recorded in the google forms. This also
presented a graphical analysis of the data. The main aim of this exercise was to survey and analyze
the on-ground situation and present our observations to the concerned authorities.
We fully take responsibility for any discrepancies that might have crept in this report.

1.Introduction
• Central bus stand is located just 5 min away from the Vadodara railway station. The bus has
more than 15 platforms to travel to various parts of the state. This place caters to all types of
buses from ordinary buses to AC Volvo.
• The bus stand has a potential of traffic jams as there is a common entrance for entry and exit
of buses. Also, location of few platforms along the entry exit turn causes the buses to block.
But still a convenient place for travelers.
• It is only apt to say that many travellers lauded the facilities and cleanliness of the bus stand
as compared to other cities.
Vadodara Junction railway station (Station code is BRC) is the main station in the Indian city
of Vadodara, Gujarat.
It is the ninth busiest railway station in India in terms of frequency of trains after busiest in
Gujarat state and as well as a major stop on the western railway zone of Indian railways.
Around 170 trains starts, ends, or passes through the station daily.
2.Research Methodology
We conducted a survey based on questions discussed by the team and collected responses from 78
people combining both the bus stand and the railway station. We asked different classes of people
travellers from well off background to poor travellers. This survey helped shed light on various things
about the respected sites and public places in general. The survey was done through “google forms”
for better data representation.
3.Research Findings
2. With respect to the cleanliness at railway station and bus stop it was
found that more than half of the subjects rated as good followed by
27% who rated as excellent. This shows the condition of the railway
station as well as bus stop was in good condition with respect to the
cleanliness.
6. Another deduction was made that the people although aware were
not using the digitization services. The general opinion was of that it
is hassle free and does help to book ticket faster.
Problems
7. We enquired the problems faced by the passengers there. We
question the difficulties they faced, the changes they want to solve
the present problem and to avert any future mis happenings. There
were mixed answers both at railways as well at bus stations. Some
complained on lack of cleanliness, some questioned on absence of
basic infrastructure. Many were floored by the development at Bus
Stop while many still had issues. We made a collage of their
valuable feedback.
Solutions
8. As the problems were plenty, so we asked them to provide the solutions
that they like to apply to these burning issues. After scratching their heads
for a while many of them engulfed us with their solutions. Some of them
were complex to apply and some were quite innovative. A few had lost
hopes on the revival but many were hopeful for a change sooner or later.
Conclusion
Our survey collected around 78 responses in a remarkably short time. We addressed various issues
with the passengers and passers-by. We enquired about the issues that faced and even the
highlighted the actual need. We had a mammoth of viewpoints which we came across. Some were
optimistic for a brighter day while some were pessimistic that the sun may never set. It was more
than enthralling and most importantly a very learning experience that taught us lessons which would
never be told in four walled classrooms. We inspected on the ground and took feedback as well. All
together Baroda’s transportation centres (Bus & railways) is good enough for a medium sized
population city. But for a city which is evolving everyday this may further lead to obstacles as well if
not addressed in proper time. We here also note that the citizens of Baroda are also progressive,
careful as well as benevolent as compared to its other cities. Overall the hubs are good enough to
sustain.
