COURSE POLICY
GRADING POLICY: Lecture is 70% of your course grade. Student must pass the lecture to
pass the course. Lab is 30% of your course grade.
(Minimum 420 points (70% of 600 pts) to pass the lecture section)
Lab Average your exam scores plus total quiz scores (10 quizzes count as 1 exam). Multiply the
average by 0.3 to get your adjusted lab score.

Course Grade: For your final grade, the adjusted score for the lecture (70 pts) and lab (30 pts)
scores will be added together. The final grades will be determined as follows:

SELF STUDY: During the first week of class students are responsible for reviewing the following
concepts:
Homeostasis/Body Organization/Atoms/Reactions---Chem I
Inorganic/Organic chemistry-Chem II
Cell Structure & Function.
HW 1 on Pearson Mylabs site will assess knowledge of the above concepts.
1. Students need to have access code to Pearson MasteringAandP web site in the FIRST
week of classes. You need to have a code to access it. All HW and Quizzes are on
Masteringaandp web site only. The instructor will announce when homework activities
& quizzes are posted on the web site & the due dates, you are responsible for due
dates, there will NO extensions of due dates regardless of reason for missing due date.
2. Exam / Quiz Policy: ALL EXAMS ARE GIVEN AT THE TESTING CENTER ON
LIBERTY CAMPUS – PRIOR ONLINE APPOINTMENT IS REQUIRED
ALL QUIZZES AND EXAMS ARE CLOSED BOOK.
THERE ARE NO TAKE HOME EXAMS.
THERE ARE NO EXTRA CREDIT HOME WORKS OR ASSIGNMENTS.
3. Discussion Board: Students must log in and post on topic posted, first post is your write up
on the topic, second posting is to comment on TWO other students posting, DB points are
posted at end of every two weeks, missing a posting is marked as absent, no extensions if
you miss due date, score will post as zero. See rubrics for DB points.
4. Missed Exam Policy: Students MUST inform the instructor if they miss an exam and must
have a documented excuse on returning to class.
If you miss a quiz or exam, you must contact your instructor immediately upon your
return to the classroom to arrange a makeup. All makeup quiz/ exams WILL BE (short
answers) IN ESSAY FORMAT. Otherwise, missed exams will be counted as zero in
your grade point average. A student cannot pass the course with an exam score of
zero.
Lab exams: All make ups for missed lab exams will be an oral exam on models with
your instructor.

6. Lab Safety: ON THE FIRST DAY OF LAB CLASS, the instructor will present a
POWER POINT on LAB SAFETY GUIDELINES. You will be required to take A
LAB SAFETY QUIZ thereafter, and pass with a grade of 80% or above to be allowed
to continue with lab class. If you do not meet this requirement, you will be directed to
LSB Rm. 302 to go and retake the quiz. Food and drinks are NOT allowed in the
laboratory. Feet must be covered with closed toed shoes to provide protection from
broken glass and other laboratory hazards. Wear proper clothing to lab at all times.
Failure to comply with this policy will result in the student being asked to leave the
class.
7. Children in the lecture room and lab: Children are NOT to be brought into the lecture
room or the laboratory.
8. Science Learning Center- LSB 302: Provides tutors and learning tools such as audio
visuals and other multimedia supplementary learning tools to enhance your learning.

10. Inclement Weather Policy: Please watch the local news channel and look up the school
web site for delayed opening or college closure.
11. For additional college wide policies; including academic integrity, the student is
advised to read the Student Code of Conduct Handbook.
12. PLAGIARISM: Is defined in Winston dictionary for Schools as “the act of stealing and
using, as one’s own, another’s ideas or words” without giving credit to the originator.
This serious act of academic dishonesty will not be tolerated at BCCC. Students are therefore
expected to do all assignments, examinations, quizzes and tests on their own without any form of
assistance.
Always ask the instructors to clarify any instruction that you do not understand.
