with diverse partners about kindergarten topics and texts with peers and adults
in small and larger groups.

a. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.K.6 - Speak audibly and express thoughts,

feelings, and ideas clearly.

b. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.K.3C - Read common high-frequency words by

sight.

II. Prerequisites: Students should be able to identify each classmate by his or her first
name.

III. Instructional Objective:

c. Students will be able to participate in a whole group greeting activity by

saying hello to them, using their first names in the greeting.

IV. Instructional Procedures: (Whole group, 15 minutes)

d. Part I- Greeting: “Curtsy & Bow” - Students will greet one another by first
pairing up in boy-girl pairs. The teacher and co-teacher will model how this
activity may look, by showing students how to correctly curtsy and correctly
bow to your partner. After modeling the greeting, students will say, “Good
Morning _____!” Addressing them by first name, followed by a curtsy or a
bow. After everyone has greeted one another, they will sit down in their
morning meeting spots.

e. Part II- Activity: “Name Game” - Students will begin this activity seated on
their morning meeting spots. The teacher will tell them that we will take turns
introducing ourselves with one word to describe ourselves, and she will model
what this will look like: “For example my friends, I may say, “I am Kaitlin
and I am happy!” Each friend will brainstorm one word, and will then model
this when their turn comes within the circle. Once every friend has shared
their adjective, the activity will conclude.
