[051] DIPLOMA IN INDUSTRIAL SAFETY
GUIDELINES FOR PROJECT WORK
A Student has to take-up a project work in the month of March and complete it in
two months in partial requirement of the award of Diploma in Industrial Safety.
The Project Report must be based on detailed and intensive study in the
industry and the scope of the project is as follows:
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT WORK
 To gain an insight into industrial safety to know how the problems of
Industrial Safety are identified and solved.
 To help the Safety officers, Safety engineers and Safety specialists to find
solutions to their problems.
 To examine and evaluate the “Safety performance of the industry”.
 To study the causes of accidents with particular reference to the
prevailing unsafe conditions and practices.
 To give exposure to the students and to develop the ability in the fields of
hazards, training, management and methodology of planning a study,
data collection, analysis, presentation and decision making on the
problems related to safety industry.
PASSING REGULATIONS
The Project work will be valued for maximum marks of 100, of which 75 will
be for the project work and 25 for the viva-voce. A minimum of 50 marks is
required to pass the Project paper, of which he /she should secure a minimum of 30
marks in the project report alone. In case, a candidate fails he/she has to resubmit
the project report. The Viva-voce examination is compulsory for passing the
Project paper.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. The enclosed Proforma (original & duplicate) are to be submitted on or


before 20th March 2015.
2. Students are instructed to refer to the annexure for selection of project title.
3. The proforma (original) will be returned to the student after approval.
4. After the approval of the topic one typed copy of the project report
(A4-size) in neatly bound form should be submitted on or before
31st May 2015. Project report submitted after the last date will not be
considered for valuation.
5. A Photostat copy of the approved project proforma with abstract should be
attached on the first page of the project report without fail.
6. Project report and all correspondence in this regard should be sent only to

and Super scribed on the top of the envelope as DIS Project Report.
7. The student should bring a copy of the project report at the time of viva-
voce examination.
PROJECT ABSTRACT
The project abstract should be prepared and to be sent along with Proforma
to The Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Annamalai University,
Annamalainagar-608002
The format of the Abstract shall be as follows:
1. Title of the Project
2. Statement of the Problem
3. Objectives of the Study
4. Research methodology
PROJECT PROFORMA SUBMISSION AND APPROVAL
After finalizing the topic, students should send the project proforma along with
the Abstract. Incompletion of the Project proforma in any aspect will be rejected.
FORMAT OF THE PROJECT REPORT
1. The project report should not exceed 150 typed pages.
2. It should be typed in Times New Roman, 12 font size with 1.5 line spacing.
3. Project report should contain a copy of the approved Abstract.
IMPORTANT DATES:
The Last Date for submission of the Project Proforma : 20.03.2015
The Last Date for submission of the Project Report : 31.05.2015
