Motivation:
The teacher will show a picture with a clue and the students will guess what pictures on
the screen.
A. Discussion
What is computer hardware?
It is the collection of physical parts of a computer system. This includes
the computer case, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. It also includes all the parts inside
the computer case, such as the hard disk drive, motherboard, video card, and many
others.
Parts of Hardware
Motherboard everything behind the is connected in some way to the
motherboard so that all the pieces can communicate with each other.
Central Processing Unit (CPU) part of a computer in which operations are
controlled and executed.
Random Access memory (RAM) the most common type of memory found in
computers and other devices, such as printers.
Power Supply a power supply is an internal hardware component that
supplies components in a computer with power.
Video card printed circuit board controlling output to a display screen.
Hard Drive (HD) high-capacity, self-contained storage device containing a read-
write mechanism plus one or more hard disks, inside a sealed unit.
Solid – State Drive (SSD) a nonvolatile storage device that stores persistent data
on solid-state flash memory
Optical Drive (eg. DVD / CD drive) optical disk drive (ODD) uses a laser light
to read data from or write data to an optical disc.
Card Reader electronic device that reads and transfers data from various
portable memory storage devices.
