Deductive and Inductive Grammar

Materials: Projector, laptop, flip chart, strips, markers.

Aim(s): To understand the use of deductive and inductive method in English Grammar
Teaching.

Stage
Procedure (what the trainer and participants will do)
Aim, timing, interaction
WARM UP Trainers greet trainees.
Trainers ask participants to pick up a piece of paper.
 Aim: Participants read their texts on the piece of paper and then they must

 Interaction: Participants move to the correct place to form groups.

Trainers give participants some strips with the stages for each method
and participants must order the stages as they think is correct. Annex 02
Participants sit in the correct group and start to match the examples
with the method.
Trainers ask participants to see the others tasks and compare with
PROCEDURE their own answers.
 Aim: Trainers use classdojo to select one participant per group to share
 Interaction their ideas according to the text showed on the board.
 20 minutes The selected participant goes to the board and write the method
according to his/her group ideas. Annex 03
Trainers ask if the others agree with the answer.
Trainers ask participants to remember about the first part of the
microtraining and think of what method was used “deductive or
inductive”. Why?
The training ends by asking following questions:
REFLECTION 1. Which method do you think is the most suitable to teach grammar?
 Aim: 03 minutes 2. How would you apply this method in your class?
Trainers end the training thanking all for their participation.
