THE SACRED RIVER

The river Ganges starts in west India and travels through the north into
Bangladesh. It isn’t very long: 2,520km. The Nile and the Amazon are
longer, but the Ganges is very important to the people in India. 400
million people live near this river. It gives them food and water to use
for washing their clothes or having a bath. There are more than 100
different types of fish swimming in these waters and also sharks and
dolphins! The Ganges today is very dirty and the sharks and dolphins are
endangered. People are in danger, too, because they also drink from the
river. Luckily, there are people trying to clean the river and protect it.

The Ganges is found in two countries. _____

The Amazon is longer than 2,520 km. _____

Nobody lives close to the river Ganges. _____

Sharks are the only fish living in the Ganges. _____

Some people are trying to make the Ganges dirtier. _____
