I would like to express my interest in a position as an associate engineer in drilling field for your
company. I am seeking for placement in the field of geoscience in order to enhance my technical know-
how and elevate my future employability specially in geomechanics and drilling studies. I believe I am
a strong candidate for a position at your company.

I will graduate in April 2020 with Bachelor of Technology (Hons) Petroleum Geoscience, majoring in
basin and reservoir studies. For the past 4 years on campus, I have learned the fundamentals of geology
and geophysics with substantial emphasis on petroleum geology, seismic processing, seismic
interpretation, reservoir characterization, geodynamics, geomechanics, geochemistry and basin
modelling, I am therefore a good seismic interpreter capable of utilizing Petrel software for 3D volume
interpretation and I am also acquainted with the process of carbonate, clastic rocks analysis and
description on both microscopic and megascopic levels and also process of well logging interpretation.

Although I have 8 months internship experience in PETRONAS Research Sdn. Bhd. I have gained my
maturity, practical experience in understanding the concept of wellbore stability, familiar with
geomechanics tools and criteria, and basic programming language to develop application. I have
involved three projects that have achieved technology readiness level 4 recognized by PETRONAS. I
have fully qualified regarding the implementation of SHOC and SSHE rules. I want to begin my career
with my related field, and I am confident that I would be a beneficial addition to your Company.

I have participated as a drilling engineer in Petroleum Basin Evaluation (Exploration of Oil in

Campeche Republic) competition and my group secured the 1st runner up of this project. Also from
my academic’s final year project, I have gained the experience concerning rock mechanical testing.
Besides these technical skills, I have solid leadership and interpersonal skills that I have gained through
involvement in various extracurricular activities. My quest is therefore to apply the theoretical
knowledge I have gained thus far in the university. I am certain that if granted an opportunity to work
at your company, I will do my best to execute the tasks assigned on time and contribute positively to
the company’s growth.

Working as a research assistant at University Technology PETRONAS has given me the skills
necessary to perform technical knowledge and understand the work culture. This job has helped me
gain experience in performing ordinary office duties and executing numerous tasks that involve
computer programs such as Microsoft Access and Excel. I have carried out these responsibilities and
good contribution. I know I will be able to apply these abilities to a position with your company.
