CONSTRUCTION METHODOLOGY
(EARTHWORKS,FOUNDATION WORKS)

Project: Redevelopment of Ferdinand Marcos Stadium


Location: Laoag, Ilocos Norte
METHOD OF STATEMENT

This Method Statement is prepared to ensure that the construction of the Redevelopment
of Ferdinand Marcos Stadium for the projects shall comply on plans and specifications
and all relevant standard and code requirements in the execution of different work
activities to be performed in the construction of the plant and other relevant structures
associated with this project in general. In addition, this will serve as a tool to guide all
technical personnels and layman to execute proper construction procedures in compliance
with the quality and safety plans for the project.

I. CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURE

This work procedure is described as follows;

A. PRELIMINARIES

A.1. TEMPORARY CONNECTIONS

Checking of Existing power line and water line. Application of Three phase power
line at Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative.

A.2 DEMOLITION

Removal of Existing Fixtures, Electric power hammers will then safely demolish the
walls starting from the Roof level working down. After the demolition the debris can
be safely hauled out from the site.

A.3. TEMPORARY ENCLOSURE OF THE SITE

Installation of temporary fence at site.

a.) Excavate around 200mm Depth for the foundation of Tubular Column.
b.) Put the Tubular column every 3 Meters, Pour the Excavated hole with Concrete.
c.) Install Purlins for horizontal Frames At least 1.5 Meter Spacing.
d.) Install G.I. Roofing using Tekscrew.
e.) Paint the wall area.

A.4. SURVEY LAYOUT

a.) Refer to the final layout drawing prepared with reference to the actual
demarcation, set back adjustments, final levels and other development works.
b.) Start the layout with the help of ‘Total Station’ or any other survey instrument.
c.) Position the Total Station on Benchmark Points.
d.) Using Autocad Software. Measure the angle and Distances from the benchmark
e.) Measure the given distance by the use of prism.
f.) Double check the measurements by backsigthing the prism.

B. EARTH WORK

B.1 EXCAVATION

a.)Structural excavation and trimming works on footings and sump pits shall be done
by Omicron/Tekton Construction Joint Venture.

b.)Back hoe shall be mobilized to execute the structural excavation and trimming.

c.)Start the excavation at high priority areas on the construction schedule.

d.)Always check the sides of the excavation for any sign of slope erosion or collapse.

e.)Any unwanted accumulation of water shall be removed immediately by pumping.


Provide pumping pits when necessary.

B.2.SOIL TREATMENT

a.)Provide soil treatment in accordance with the specifications. Use only approved
chemicals.

b.)Soil treatment shall be done by a licensed applicator who shall issue a warranty as
required by the specifications.
PROTECTION OF ADJACENT PROPERTIES

Adjacent properties/structures/utility lines shall be regularly monitored and checked


against subsidence /settlement and appearance of cracks.

C. REINFORCEMENT WORK

C.1.SPECIFICATIONS
a.)Supply all steel reinforcements in accordance with the structural specifications,
i.e. grade, size, properties, etc.

b.)Stockpile steel reinforcements in accordance with their specifications and


markings for easy identification.

C.2.CUTTING LIST/ SHOP DRAWING


a.)Prepare and submit rebar fabrication and installation shop drawing for approval
by the structural design consultant. Indicate actual bends, lengths, splice and
splice detail on the shop drawings.

C.3.TESTING
a.)Conduct all required rests on rebars as soon as they are delivered on site.

C.4.FABRICATION; CUTTING & BENDING


a.)Cutting and bending shall be done using cutting and bending machines of
adequate capacity.

b.)Cutting and bending shall be done as per approved shop drawing.

C.5.INSTALLATION
a.)Install rebars as per approved shop drawing

b.)Lifting of rebars can be done by cranes/ Backhoe or transfer it manually.


c.)Provide adequate spacers and ties to prevent dislocation of rebars during
placement and vibration of concrete

C.6.INSPECTION

a.)Conduct regular inspection of rebar installation works to ensure compliance


with the plans/approved shop drawings. If there are revisions

b.)Prior to concreting of any reinforced concrete portion of the work, request the
owner’s inspector for inspection

c.)Any portion of the rebar work noted for correction by the owner’s inspector
shall be immediately rectified and subjected to re-inspection by the owner’s
inspector.

D.)FORMWORKS

D.1) FORMWORKS

a.) Formworks will be rigidly constructed to ensure that the finished concrete is
true to the required shape, lines and grades. Provide camber if required.

b.) A coating of form oil can be applied to surfaces coming into contact with
concrete to allow easy removal of forms without damage to concrete.

c.) Formworks for vertical surfaces shall be adequately tied and braced to
maintain its alignment throughout the placing of concrete, especially during
vibration of concrete.

d.) Formworks for horizontal surfaces shall be adequately shored and braced to
maintain its alignment throughout the placing of concrete, especially during
vibration of concrete
D.2.)FORMWORK STRIPPING

a.)Stripping of formworks shall be in accordance and approval of the


structural designer.

D.3.)HAULING & HANDLING OF FORMWORKS

a.)Formworks shall be transported by cranes or other mechanical means

E.CONCRETING
E.1) SPECIFICATIONS
a.)All materials for concrete mixes to be used in the project, specially cement,
shall comply with the specifications.

E.2.)SUPPLIERS/PURCHASING
a.)Concrete shall be supplied by a reputable batching plant approved by the
owner/owner’s representative.

E.3.)DESIGN & TRIAL MIXES; TESTING & APPROVAL


a.)Submit design mixes for approval by the QA/QC Manager or
Construction Manager.

b.)Conduct trial mixes based on the approved design mixes and using the
cement to be used in the project. Prepare 6 concrete cylinder samples for
7,14and 28 days compressive strength of concrete in order to establish a
compressive strength vs. age curve.

c.)During each individual concreting schedule, conduct sampling, curing


and testing in accordance with the specifications and the applicable
requirements of the ACI and ASTM.
E.4.)CONVEYANCE/PLACEMENT
a.)Prior to placing concrete, make sure that formworks are clean; rebars
have been inspected; and all embedded items are in place and properly
secured.

b.)Concrete shall be conveyed and deposited, without segregation of


aggregates, using any of the equipment/method:

CONCRETE PUMP
CONCRETE PLACING BOOM
CHUTES
CRANE & BUCKET
DIRECT UNLOADING / DISCHARGE
FABRICATED CONCRETE GUTTER

c.)Concrete shall be vibrated or tamped in place using vibrators of the


adequate size and in accordance with good concreting practice.
