Statement of purpose for a study abroad program

My name is Salomé Otalvaro Guevara, I was born in Riosucio (Caldas) Colombia, but since
childhood I live in Cali, Colombia, where I have done all my studies, and now I am
studying my major of Biology with concentrations in Conservation and Molecular
Biology / Biotechnology at Icesi University. A long time ago I have considered continuing
my studies abroad. It has been my goal to live new experiences that challenge me every day
to be better both personally and professionally. I want to live and study in different
countries to expand my vision of the world, be more aware of my own reach and limits,
learn from other cultures, learn languages, strengthen my adaptation skills, communication,
teamwork and independence, form a new network of professional opportunities, make new
friends from different countries and acquire intercultural and multicultural skills. The
University of Münster in Germany is a public higher education institution, and the third
largest university in Germany, and the most important thing for me is that among the main
areas of research are natural sciences. That is why I hope to have the opportunity to study in
this prestigious university.

I am in the fifth semester of my biology major and I would like to know how my major is
developing in different parts of the world, different points of view, innovations and new
research. In order to complement what I have learned at Icesi University. I believe that this
process will give me unforgettable experiences, and will make me a better professional with
integral competencies. I will have the opportunity to develop research that I have already
begun in the university. Studying abroad will help me to be a highly creative professional,
who will conceptualize and propose innovative solutions in the conservation and
management of biological diversity and in the biotechnology industry, with the necessary
bases to continue to develop academically in master's or doctoral programs that I allow me

to become a leader in research and a highly trained teacher. I will reinforce the sense of
ethics and practice of moral and civic principles. As a biologist, I consider that I will
achieve all this thanks to all the knowledge, skills and abilities that I have acquired. I am
demanding with myself, I like to strive and that is what I will do.

Believing in my skills and desire to learn, at the end of this semester I will be an integral
professional, with many knowledge and experiences, with better job opportunities. I want
to inspire people to believe in opportunities, and that studying abroad is possible, that with
effort and dedication can be achieved.
