CHAPTER V

CONCLUSION, RECOMMENDATION AND PROPOSED ACTION PLAN

In this chapter, the conclusions are derived from the findings of the study. The

conclusions were based on the purpose, research questions and results of the study.

The implications of these findings and the resultant recommendations will also be

explained. Recommendations were based on the conclusions and purpose of the study.

In addition, there will be a proposed action plan as a response to the purpose of the

study.

CONCLUSION

The participants knows the current status of comfort rooms. They notices and

encounters the problems including lack of water supply, stinky smell from the toilets,

dirty and messy floor and cubicles, lack of cleaning materials and lack of necessary

things like hand sanitizers and tissues. To sum up, the problems mentioned falls into

two main categories-- lack of water supply and lack of sanitation. Water scarcity may

look like a simple problem but it has serious effects. Dirty comfort rooms are caused by

undisciplined students and lack of materials to maintain cleanliness.

According to the participants, whenever they refrain themselves from urinating

because of lack of water supply and sanitation, they feel uncomfortable to do things,

they can't concentrate when there are classes and their urinary bladders aches. They

also need permission from teachers before they can go out to urinate. Whenever they

fetch water to use in cleaning and after urinating, the distance of the comfort rooms to
where they fetch water is way too far, making it time consuming. To sum up, these

problems affects them as students when they can't focus or concentrate in class in

terms of academic performance while they might get Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) in

terms of their health.

The participants said that the best solution to lack of water supply and sanitation that

results to problems in health and academic performance are having soaps, hand

sanitizers, tissues, pails, dippers, trashcans, cleaning materials and if possible, more

toilets. However, being disciplined enough according to them is the best solution

because they notice that their fellow students are undisciplined, making them think that

it is the best solution to the problems arising in the comfort rooms. Water supply was

fine not until students abused and misused it. In addition, having the mentioned

necessities in comfort rooms helps students to feel comfortable and do better.

RECOMMENDATION

In order to solve this problems, first and foremost, there should be a drum in

every comforts room that will serve as a container of water so that there will be enough

stock of water. When there's no water from the faucet, the water in the drum will be

useful. Because of this, the floors and cubicles will be cleaned and there will be no

stinky smell because there's water that can be used to flush the urine. Meanwhile, when

it comes to lack of sanitation, there should be assigned cleaners so the cleanliness will

be maintained. The sections within the same floor should provide necessary things like

soaps and sanitizers. Each section will provide for themselves the necessities and also,

a box where they could put them.

The effects of the lack of water supply and sanitation to the health and academic

performance of students will be solved through cleaning the comfort rooms and

sanitizing it. In addition to the solutions regarding the effects to their health, they should

practice basic hygiene such as frequent hand washing to prevent themselves from

having diseases that's caused by lack of sanitation. On the other hand, the effects to

academic performance will be prevented once the major problems are

solved.////////////////////////
