TEXTBOOKS AND SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS

Textbook: A Problem Solving Approach to Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers,

12th edition, Billstein, Libeskind, Lott; Pearson.
NOTE: Textbook access is available with the required purchase of MyMathLab access. A
physical textbook is optional, but not required.
MyMathLab Access Code: (Course ID: xxxx######) Packet ISBN: 978-0321199911
NOTE: This is the same access code that was used during MATH 1410 and will not need to
be repurchased as long as you have the current edition (12th edition).
Required Technology: Each student will need to have access to the following:
1. Calculator. A scientific calculator will be helpful during class and on the homework. Cell
phone calculators will not be allowed on tests or quizzes.
2. Mobile Device. A mobile device (cell phone, tablet, or laptop) with Wi-Fi capabilities
DURING class for daily quizzes and other class activities.
3. Internet Access. You will need internet access OUTSIDE of class to complete homework
assignments (in MyMathLab) and interact with the class (in Momentum, etc.).

GRADING AND EVALUATION

Grading procedure: Instructors, it is suggested that you assign at least 10% of the course
grade to the online homework and at least 15% to the final exam. You should enter details of
your grading procedure for your students in this section. Be sure to address your policy on
deadlines, late work, etc.
Grading scale: Your final letter grade will be assigned based on the following scale:
Percentage Letter Grade
90-100% A
80-89.9% B
70-79.9% C
60-69.9% D
¿ 60% F
Grades will not be rounded. No bonus points or extra credit will be offered.

SYLLABUS CHANGES

The instructor reserves the right to make changes to the syllabus and/or schedule as long
as the students are notified.

PLAGIARISM AND ACADEMIC INTEGRITY

Academic Misconduct includes, but is not limited to, Plagiarism, Cheating, Fabrication and
Facilitation. Academic misconduct is prohibited. Upon identification of misconduct, an
instructor has the authority to assign an “F” or a zero for the exercise, the examination, or
the entire course. Students guilty of academic misconduct that would typically result in the
grade of “F” for the course will not be permitted to drop the class in which the academic
misconduct occurred. The instructor will contact the appropriate Division Dean who will
then contact Records and request that an administrative hold be placed on the course in
question. The instructor will notify the student of the appropriate due process/appeal
procedure. The administrative hold will remain in place until the academic misconduct
matter is concluded.

All students will be asked to read, sign, and abide by the Academic Misconduct Agreement.

STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

Qualified students with disabilities will be provided reasonable and necessary academic
accommodations if determined eligible by the appropriate disability services office staff.
Prior to granting disability accommodations in the course, the instructor must receive
written verification of a student's eligibility for specific accommodations from the disability
services office staff. It is the student's responsibility to initiate contact with the disability
services staff and to follow the established procedures for having the accommodation
notice sent to the instructor. Students requiring modifications due to documented disability
must notify faculty within the first two weeks of class.
