Make yourselves deserve for promotion

rather than desiring for promotion

There is a growing dissatisfaction among employees of either a corporate or a

government, on account of their not getting promotions or a career growth. This leads to
fall in productivity of the organizations and the employees` mindset also get changed.

Mr. David secured a job in an engineering company. There are more than thousand
engineers working in different disciplines. He thought that he is one among the
thousands in the organization and he does have only one chance out of a thousand for
promotion. He was a little bit concerned about his future.

After a few months, the management was faced with a problem. They called for
suggestions from their employees for a solution to overcome such a situation.

Mr. David sent three possible solutions to the problem; out of the three, one solution
was accepted by the management. David was suitably recognized by way of a prize.
Later, he came to know that only twenty others had sent solutions to the problems.

Now, he thought that there are thousands of employees working here; but for a
promotion, he has to compete with only twenty of them.

Now, considering the matter of promotion, Mr. David thought that he can chose any one
of the two alternatives mentioned hereunder:

“Do I desire for promotion? Or Do I deserve for promotion?”

There is a lot of difference between the two. If you want to be in limelight for growth in
your career, you have to exhibit your talents and efficiency and get yourselves proved
that you deserve for promotion. Only mediocre will say” Give me a good job and I will
show you what I can do.” It transpires that If you cannot make a good job of the one you
have; no sensible person will believe that you can do better in any other job.
Some people will choose a reason for their incompetency attributing the difficult nature
of the job. It is only a perception or mind set. If you could develop an interest in the job
allotted to you, then, you will not be tired of the job. You can do more than your
potential, provided; you do develop interest in the job.

“The man who wins is the man who thinks that he can”

It is a fact that, as the year’s rolls on, some people, who make themselves deserve for
promotion, go up in the ladder of career path and others grow old only.

It is up to us to decide to which group we belong to-either growing up or growing

old!
