Dear Hussain,
GAS
As per your confirmation that Chemical cleaning can be started today afternoon. Kindly, communicate with UIS about the arrangements to start Chemical cleaning
today.
Regarding the gate pass it was arranged and confirmed on Friday 16,2014 to start from Saturday ( by direct supervision by myself ) and no such thing "unavailability of
gate pass" mentioned by UIS (Mr. Shabir).

Dear sir
With respect to the site visit undertaken on 17/5/2014 at around 11.30 hrs fallowing are the findings
KM0 receiver area
1. Installation of one MIV was going on while as other one was present on site .
2. All lateral connections not blinded either with valves or with blind flanges .
3. Tanks transported on 13/5/2014 unloaded away from designated area. Need to relocate them once Main isolation valve erection is finished . (Have time to do that once
we start )

Dear Hussain,
GAS
As per our discussion with Aramco and the outcome of the second chemical train, SEC is in apposition to agree that the ongoing third chemical
train of chemical cleaning will be the last train. reference to this proceed for drying the gas line after third chemical train finish and prepare the
line for final to release the gas ASAP.
We appreciate all the efforts by everybody (specially from Aramco)to make the final step happened.

Subject: RE: BI-21-00051 QIPP Pipeline Chemical Cleaning
Dear Gentlemen,
It is good to hear that the third chemical train was launched today at 1415 hours. Please arrange the following in order to have this run as a final
and getting the solid loading less than 5 Grams/Liter:
1. The launcher trap, drain & chemical manifold shall be flushed & cleaned from any remaining dirt resulted from the second batch. The
manifold has to be dismantled and cleaned separately where it was blocked several times during last sampling operation.
2. Arrange with a Saudi Aramco approved Laboratory to do the sampling analysis this time and we will double check it at our laboratory
3. The run is expected to be received during the coming weekend. Therefore, SEC has to decide from now the need of the fourth chemical
run if the solid loading is more than 5 Grams/liter in the third chemical run. This is in order to be ready and avoid any further delay.

7.2.2 The work must be carried out in accordance with company Standards UIS/GAS
and General Instructions. These will include but not limited to the
following:
G. I. 6.012- Isolation Lock Out and Use of Hold Tag
G. I. 2.100- Work Permit System.
7.2.3 Mobilize and install Frac (Holding) tanks to the scraper receiver site UIS/GAS
QIPP (KM 41.585).
(Refer to Table 1 “Chemical Train Composition and Run Duration)
7.2.4 Mobilize and install Nitrogen Generating Unit (NGU), compressors, UIS/GAS
chemical vessel, diluents tank and injection pump to scraper launcher
site Abqaiq (KM 0.00). (Refer to Table 1 “Chemical Train Composition
and Run Duration).
7.2.5 Re-calibrate and install pressure gauges upstream and downstream of UIS/GAS
the trap isolation valve for both launcher and receiver.
Note:
1. Only calibrated pressure gauges shall be used.
2. Pressure Gauges should be as per the requirements (30-80%) of
SA Standards.
3. Pressure ranges: 0 – 200 psi
All other measuring equipment shall be calibrated.
7.2.6 If available, reset all scraper passage signals. Ensure they are operable. GAS
7.2.7 Both Launching and Receiving Areas should be ready with the designed UIS/GAS
piping to inject and receive the chemicals.
7.2.8 Check to ensure that all scraper traps’ isolation valves and all pertinent GAS
branch valves are not passing. If valves are passing, perform the
necessary maintenance to stop passing valves.

Chemical Cleaning of the pipeline shall be executed to ensure the removal of any sand,
corrosion products such as iron carbonate, iron oxides and iron supplied, metallic iron,
weld spatter, salt and scale generated during the dewatering, swabbing, tie-ins and
valves installation if any.
Specific chemical cleaning train has been designed for the entire pipeline in the scope of
this procedure. The segment of pipeline from permanent launcher to permanent receiver
trap will be chemically clean by two (2) cleaning train/runs with additional optional runs
if required. Refer to Figure 1 “Chemical Cleaning Train” for its composition.
Pre-requisites:
Prior to start the chemical train run, an initial back pressure of approximately 30-40 psig
must be ensured in order to perform the run in controlled manner and within the required
velocity.
The medium to build up the back pressure and to propel the chemical cleaning train shall
be by nitrogen having a 95% nitrogen purity. Record log of the nitrogen purity shall be
maintained during the back pressure build up and the train run. Nitrogen purity reading
shall be taken as the nitrogen entering into the pipeline every 4 hours.
The planned cleaning run for the pipeline segment along with the expected amount of
chemicals and diluents are shown in Table 1.

7.6.9 Continue pumping nitrogen to propel the chemical slug train until it reach to receiver trap. UIS
7.6.10 Nitrogen Purity and line pressures are to be recorded on an hourly basis at both launcher UIS
and receiving stations as well as the scraper movements.
7.6.11 With positive back pressure monitored, station contractor crew leader shall manipulate valve UIS
E and/or valve F and release pressure in a controlled manner, maintaining a balance
between nitrogen injection and release for smooth/intact chemical train movement having
an average of 0.5 to 1 km/hr speed.
Note: Vacuum Truck will be used on a regular interval to empty the tanks and dispose it to
an approved waste disposal site/company.
7.6.13 During the arrival of the Cleaning Train into the receiver, collect the liquid samples (1 UIS/GAS
compartment) as per Section 8 in the presence of SAPMT.
7.6.14 Once scrapers are inside the receiver trap, close the 40” main isolation valve. UIS
7.6.15 Ensure that the receiver is free of pressure by venting the Receiver trap from the vent, and UIS
provided that a company representative is on location. The receiver may be opened and
scrapers retrieved.
7.6.16 Contact the launch crew and instruct nitrogen injection to cease. UIS
nd rd
7.6.17 Repeat steps 7.6.7 to 7.6.16 for the 2 and 3 run as per Table 1 Chemical Train UIS
Composition.
After the scrapers have been received from the final cleaning run, the remaining collected sludge or waste
materials from the frac tanks will be transferred and disposed via vacuum tanker to an approved waste disposal
site/company by the contractor. The frac tanks will then be demobilized from the site back to contractor’s yard.

Clean containers will be used to collect the samples and they must be clearly identified with the
following information:
Pipeline Name, Date, Location (KM), and Batch Number (1st, 2nd)
Samples will be sent to a laboratory for their solid in suspension counting (% in Volume).
Pipeline will be considered clean enough if the debris loading found to be equal or less than
5g/li.
1. Control the chemical discharging flow rate by throttling the discharge valve.
3. Open the sampling valve and flush at least 500ml of fluid through the valve. Do not close
the valve after flushing.
4. Place the sample bottle under the valve and collect fluid. Do not touch the valve whilst
taking the sample as this could cause particles to loosen and be released from the valve.
5. Withdraw the sample bottle leaving the valve open. Rinse the inner surface to the bottle
with fluid and discard the fluid. Repeat Step 4 and 5 for all the bottles to be used.
6. Repeat the above without closing the valve and collect two (2) liquid samples per
chemical compartment.
7. Send one sample of fluid to an Aramco approved Lab to obtain solids contain per
volume. Second sample shall be given to Aramco Operations Representative for any
future required confirmation of results.
