ABSTRACT

ECA is defined in dictionaries as educational activities that fall outside the scope

of the regular school curriculum (Merriam-Webster, 2010). The main objective of this

study is to obtain relevant and reliable information about the effects of extracurricular

activities to the student's lifestyle, specifically the selected G10 students of Benjamin B

Esguerra Memorial National High School as the respondents. The researchers found out

that female Students of Benjamin B Esguerra Memorial National High School are more

active to join the said activities with a percentage of (68%) while the male students got

the lowest frequency of 88 with a percentage of (32%) The researcher made use of a

survey questionnaire as the primary data collection instrument in the study. The said

questionnaire is composed a total of 24 questions, divided in to 3 respectively for the

physical, social, emotional and mental aspects of the student's lifestyle both positive and

negative effects. In the positive effect the highest weighted mean was got by the

emotional aspect with a general weighted average (GWA) of (4.30) with verbal

interpretation of agree. While the highest general weighted average (GWA) of the

negative effect was got by the physical aspect with (3.53) using the pearson’s r the

researchers found out that there is no relationship between the first variable the effects of

extracurricular activities and our dependent variable the lifestyle of the students. By the

data collected and interpreted, we came to the conclusion that the implementation of the

Department of Education and the school of the said activities has no relationship with the

lifestyle of the students at Benjamin B Esguerra Memorial National High School.
