1 Work with your partner or others in your group. You are environmental experts with a particular
interest in the part of the world you have chosen.
An international environmental charity has agreed to give $10 million to the environmental group
who can make the most convincing case for protecting their part of the world at a major
environmental conference.
Prepare a short presentation to make your case. Start by making notes under each of the four
headings below:
1 Which part of the world would you like to see protected, and what is special about the
place?
2 What particular threats does this place face in the twenty-first century?
3 What will happen if this place is not protected from the threats you mention?
4 How do you intend to use the money to help protect the place?
2 Choose a speaker and make your case to the rest of the conference. Be impassioned and
persuasive. Be ready to politely prevent any interruptions.
