NOTE: The modification contained in this service bulletin is applicable to all future status(es)

B. Concurrent Requirements

None required.

C. Reason
(1) Condition Modification Affects
The 933003-309 IRDM currently lacks the ability to activate the regional service
provider’s access card (Dish India).

(2) Extent Condition Encountered

Affects all unmodified 933003-309 IRDM units.

(3) Scope of Modification

Incorporation of this Service Bulletin is a permanent modification.

(4) Expected Benefits of Modification

Incorporation of this Service Bulletin will enable the 933003-309 to perform the
activation of the service provider’s access card and acquire encrypted channels.

D. Description

Installing the updated firmware into the IRDM, 933003-309, will enable the unit to receive
“permission” by the service provider, Dish India, to be activated. The firmware currently
installed does not allow the access card to be activated inside the IRDM. Currently, the
activation of the card must occur outside of the IRDM utilizing a set-top-box. The firmware
upgrade allows the IRDM to perform the initial activation as its design intends and removes
the necessity of activating the card prior to installing.
