ACTION VERBS

1. Action verbs used in this curriculum, as defined in PU 3007 Safety Precaution and
Servicing Note, are defined as follows:

Apply Apply knowledge in the form of general ideas, principle or procedure to


particular and concrete situation not previously encountered.
Example: Problem solving to rectify the snag or defect.

Diagnose Find faults, detect, examine, check, inspect, test, diagnose.


Example: Diagnose an engine flameout incident to identify root cause using
troubleshooting manual.

Explain Grasp the meaning and intent of the material, explain and summarize in own
word, see the implication or effects, state ‘how’ and ‘why’.
Example: Explain the parts and components which generate flight control
system.

Operate Operating a system using internal batteries or external equipment.


Example: Operate the landing gears using hydraulic test rig during functional
check.

Perform Perform or carry out a task / tasks.


Example: Perform the Check A before flight.

Protect Oil, pact with lubricant, safeguard, replace.


Example: Protect or safeguard the wiring from chaffing using chaff guard.

Record Complete a form, file information, amend references, and keep accounts.
Example: Record the rectification done in Job Order.

Rectify Rectify faults in equipments: adjust, replace, recondition, rectify defects or


snags.
Example: Rectify a snag on utility hydraulic system.

Report Write, notify, draw, photograph, plot, Marshall, tell.


Example: Report on a bird strike case.

State Remember / recognize or define specifically.


Example: State the aircraft parking procedure.
