Australia has five of the 30 best cities in the world for students based on student mix,
affordability, quality of life, and employer activity – all important elements for students
when choosing the best study destination. Australian Universities are world-class
and the qualifications are globally recognized and highly applied and students are
thus prepared for careers globally. Universities do cutting edge research and have a
vibrant student community and hence truly multicultural which is truly global
experience. Universities bring a lot of sophistication to learning and students get an
opportunity to learn from people with experience with the industry and hence access
to the world of knowledge in the classroom.
It is highly English speaking; the climate is tropical to semi-tropical and hence kind of
Indian and the huge presence of Indian population also makes it more a comfortable
destination and crime are either least or unheard of. Last but not the least, The
Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) framework protects the rights of
international students studying in Australia. Australia is a developed country with a
wide scope of gaining knowledge especially in the field of Architecture& Planning. It
is rated as the third most popular destination for foreign students, and a high quality
of education. The approach towards education is quite impressive, which is unique, it
builds a person to be innovative, creative, self-dependent with guidance and
encouragement all through. All the universities are well known for their excellent and
flexible coursework. Safety has never been a concern here and its clean, organized
cities are an added advantage. Topping all is the welcome you receive from
Australians which is filled with warmth.
Why not India & Other Country: -
Though in India education is given its due importance, there are few areas in which,
it still needs to develop. In terms of theoretical knowledge, though India does have a
considerable amount of success and there are premium institutes that deliver top-
notch quality of education. But in terms of practical knowledge and on-field
experience are some of the parts in which it does lag a bit. Few universities like IITs
(Indian Institutes of Technology), NITs (National Institutes of Technology), BITS
(Birla Institute of Technology and Science) provide me the preferred course, but due
to entrance exams like Gate, PGCET which are difficult to crack and requires a lot of
preparation time. To go along with this our government encourages caste
reservations. Indian education system lacks behind research facilities and internship
options due to which students do not get practical exposure and enable to survive
with the expectations of the Companies. So, I prefer to study overseas education, as
the Australian education system wherein I have the flexibility to choose subjects of
my choice for specialization. As Australian education provides me a unique credit-
based system of education with advanced and enhanced curriculum and in most of
the university campuses in India, most of the students are natives and speak the
same language. I have done research on other countries like Canada, UK, and
Australia I choose Australia as this is a safe country with people of different cultures,
degrees are accepted worldwide. Moreover, the cost of living and tuition fees is less
compared with the USA, UK, and Canada. The USA, UK, and Canada universities
have very high entry requirements and the fee is also high for example Florida
Institute of Technology, University of Texas, Arlington, Kettering University, Stevens
Institute of Technology charge fees 25,000 – 35,000 USD per annum. Most students
go to Canada for PG Diploma which I did not want to. So finally, I choose Australia
as this is a safe country with people of different cultures.
Why the University of South Australia?
The foremost reason being it is one of the ATN group – Australia Technological
Network University which is known for being innovative and highly enterprising in
nature. Adelaide which is fondly known as the student city. UniSA is ranked 25th in
the QS world’s top 50 under 50 universities and is #3 in Australia in The Young
University Rankings. UNISA teaching is industry informed and degrees are aligned
with the latest industry trends and demands. UNISA has invested in a range of new
buildings and facilities totaling over $400 million to enhance our campus blueprint.
This includes Pridham Hall featuring new graduation and sporting space, along with
the UniSA Cancer Research Institute on North Terrace. UNISA is also actively
involved with the community, contributing to the intellectual, cultural and sporting life
of South Australia. Key initiatives include our new futuristic museum of discovery –
MOD. – the SAMSTAG Museum of Art and Hawke Centre based at City West
Campus; and sponsorship of the Adelaide Crows Football Club, Invictus Games, and
Santos Tour Down Under. UNISA has six campuses across the state including City
West, City East, Magill, Mawson Lakes, Whyalla, and Mount Gambier. All offer
advanced facilities including modern lecture theatres, libraries, laboratories and
purpose-built spaces that simulate real work environments. The university is
committed to providing a well-rounded student experience, with events,
entertainment, sports, clubs, volunteering opportunities, student gyms, community
clinics and chill-out spaces across all campuses. I have researched the following
other universities apart from UNISA - Flinders University and the University of
Adelaide but the fee is very high. La Trobe, Swinburne and Deakin in Victoria state
which are very famous among the students community in India I have not chosen to
study for reasons they are costlier than Adelaide, I want to be away from the hustle
and bustle of city life and not the least they have no such program offered by Unisa
nor they score as much as Unisa on industry-led research.
