CLASS DESCRIPTION (including specific special needs and language proficiencies)
This class consists of students that did not receive a C or better for a semester, students that received Ds both semesters, and students that failed
both semesters of Algebra 1. There are 30 students in my 5th period class. I have 8 English only students. I have 10 LTELs, 1 LEP student, and 11
redesignated fluent students. I have 2 students with IEP plans. One of my students doesn’t have accommodations for math but for English. One
student needs more time on assessments, preferred seating, frequent checks for understanding, and take assessments in another room.

STANDARDS, OBJECTIVES, & ACCOMODATIONS

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSS.ID.A.1
Represent data with plots on the real number line (dot plots, histograms, and box plots).

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSS.ID.A.2
Use statistics appropriate to the shape of the data distribution to compare center (median,
mean) and spread (interquartile range, standard deviation) of two or more different data
Common Core State Standards Addressed: sets.

Mathematical Practices
2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
5. Use appropriate tools strategically.
6. Attend to precision.

Content Objective(s) Students will be able to represent data using a dot plot, histogram, and/or box plots.
(cognitive, psychomotor, affective) Students will be able to use statistics appropriate to the data to make conclusions.

Student Engagement Notes
Students will engage in pair-share through the lesson. Students will have sentence structures they can use to form sentences or talk to partners.
Students will be asked to restate directions or answers their partners or others have shared. Students will be asked to randomly share their
responses or thoughts. Students will complete an exit ticket at the end of the lesson.
