Reminder to students:
An academic advisor has been assigned for each student. The list will be posted in FB Group. Please consult your academic advisor regarding your study plan and/or before doing course selection.
1. Pre-requisite courses: ALL pre-requisite courses MUST be completed before enrolling into the next course.
2. Co-requisite courses:
--> If the lab has only 1 co-requisite, students MUST take the lab with the the co-requisite in the same semester.
--> If the lab has 2 co-requisites, 1 co-requisite course MUST be taken together with the lab, provided that the other co-requisite course has been completed
OR students can take the lab with both co-requisites in the same semester.
3. Briefing: Students MUST attend the briefing below & be alert on briefing schedule announcement:
a) Lab briefing - will be conducted by lecturer/tutor in Week 3 and Week 4
b) Co-op briefing - will be conducted by Co-op Coordinator
c) FYP/Capstone briefing - will be conducted by FYP/Capstone Coordinator
4. Credit Hour (Workload): Healthy load is 15-17 credit hours (long semester) and 6-7 credit hours (short semester)
5. Duration of Study:
a) Minimum no. of semester of study in Engineering Degree is EIGHT (8) long semesters + FOUR (4) short semesters
*(for student without any credit transfer/exemption).
b) Maximum allowable study duration is six (6) years, subjected to approval by the Faculty and EMGS/VISA Approval (for international students ONLY)
6. FYP: Only students in their final year of study are allowed to take FYP A. Continue Next Semester (CNS) will be given to indicate that the student has passed FYP A and MUST proceed with FYP B
in the next long semester. FYP A and FYP B MUST be done in two (2) consecutive long semesters.
7. Requirement for Co-op2: Completion of all Year 1 courses & min. 70% (min 20 CH) of Year 2 courses & min. 2.00 CGPA.
Co-op 2 must be conducted in short semester. Always refer to HoD/HoP for eligibility confirmation.
8. Requirement for Co-op4: Completion of all Year 2 courses & min. 70% (min 25 CH) of Year 3 courses & min. 2.00 CGPA & must have passed EA301.
Can only be done at the end of Year 3 (for Jan intakes), or in the middle of Year 4 (for May & Sep intakes).
Co-op 4 must be conducted in short semester. Co-op 4 CANNOT be done in the final semester of study. Always refer to HoD/HoP for eligibility confirmation.
9. Electives: Students are required to choose two (2) out of four (4) elective courses.
10. English Requirement:
--> For Local Students: Entry Requirement (Basic English/English Foundation) must be completed within 1st year of study.
--> For International Students: Entry Requirement (IELTS 5.0/TOEFL) must be obtained before joining the programme.
The HoP will remind you through email/IIS comment during course approval, should you be required to complete any English Requirement.
11. Bahasa Kebangsaan A Requirement (local students only):
--> Student without SPM Bahasa Melayu OR student who did not obtain credit (min C Grade) in SPM Bahasa Melayu is COMPULSORY to take
WJB305 Bahasa Kebangsaan A before he can complete the Degree.
--> If student already taken Bahasa Kebangsaan A, please refer to the Faculty for exemption advices.
* The HoP will remind you through email/IIS comment during course approval, should you be required to complete any Bahasa Kebangsaan A.
Upon completion of study, students MUST complete 135 CH = 121 CH (Engineering courses) + 14 CH (MPU courses)
