1.0 SCOPE
This Specification covers the requirement for the design of concrete structures, buildings and
foundations
2.0 GENERAL
2.1 All design calculations shall be carried out in the MKS/SI System.
2.2 All levels and co-ordinates quoted on Drawings shall be in metres (m).
2.3 All dimensions stated on Drawings shall be in millimetres (mm).
The levels quoted on all Drawings shall be with reference to Finished Floor Level (FFL) is considered as
EL. 0.000M. Finished floor level in buildings shall be 300 mm above FGL.
Design shall be in accordance with the latest editions of the Standards and Codes of Practice as
described below :
5.0 LOADINGS
Dead Loads generally shall be taken as per unit weights given in IS:875 (Part 1) – 1987 and as per
construction elements like RC slab, floor finishes, screeds, masonry wall, etc.
The following live loads are applicable based on IS:875 (Part 2) – 1987
SG STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS
DOC. TITLE DAIMLER – DESIGN BASIS
The Wind load on the structure shall be calculated as per IS:875 (Part 3) – 1987
The seismic load on the structure shall be calculated as per IS:1893 – 2000. The zone, zone factor etc
shall be considered as indicated below.
Soil type shall be taken as per soil investigation report and shall be considered as hard soil.
The load combination indicated in IS:875 (Part 5) will be adopted for the design of civil / structural
members. The load combination with corresponding load factor is indicated below.
1) 1.5(DL+LL)
2) 1.5(DL+WL/EL)
3) 0.9DL+WL/ElL
4) 1.2(DL+LL+WL/EL))
Where,
DL - dead Load
LL - Live load

WL - Wind load
All the structures shall be analyzed / designed using computer program STAADPro
9.1 Foundation shall be designed to carry all the loads from super-structure.
PBS - M25
LC Expansion - M30
PBS - Fe500
LC Expansion - Fe500
11.0 DEFLECTION
The permissible horizontal deflections shall be as per following unless specified otherwise:
