Codesys Tag Export

Tag Creation:
1. To illustrate this feature, we are using a iR-ETN coupler with an attached iR-DM16P module.

2. We will now navigate to our IO mapping by Double clicking on our iR-ETN unit.

3. Select the “ModbusTCPSlave I/O Mapping” Tab.

4. In this case you will notice that the iR-DM16P has 3 individual channels
5. We can expand these channels by clicking the small plus located under the variable tab.

6. Expanding each channel will reveal (in this case) an array of 8 Bits.
7. Within the “Variable” Tab you can double click on a blank bit space to define a Tag name.

Selecting the […] will enable the “Input Assistant”

8. Within the input assistant you can select from a list of pre-defined variables.
9. Once this is configured you can create your PLC project.
Exporting:
1. To Export your Tags Right click on “Application” in your Device menu and select [Add Object]
and from the object list select “Symbol Configuration”

2. When prompted to Click “Add” to add the Symbol configuration.

3. Now within your “Device” menu double click on your Symbol configuration object.

4. To select your variables (Tags) that you want to export you will need to click “Build”.
5. Once your project is confirmed to be error free you may select the tags you wish to export.
6. Once you have selected the tags you will use within your project navigate to the Build Tab Select
“Generate Code”

7. This will create your Tag file with the file name being: “Project Name.Device.Application”
