ACTIVITY # 04
QUESTIONS:

1. How was the culture of BINUKOT changed over time?

Clearly times has changed, this culture is still valued by people but not as much as it was before. The
World War II almost ended this culture, because they can't run from their responsibility as BINUKOT it
ended up causing their lives. Today many women rejects the offer to be a BINUKOT.

2. Do you think we should preserve the culture or should we have diversity and modernization?
Why?

I think we should have diversity and moderation, personally I am proud of this culture. It’s like we really
have our own princess, but we should move on from it its already 21 st century. There's not a lot of it
anymore but we shouldn’t just cut it, if I would choose to preserved it I would like to change a just little
some of its rules, like allow them to walk with their feet. That way I may like it a little bit. Maybe because
it's cons outdo it's pros the reason why it's not practice much in today's age

3. What are the positive and negative traits that you have seen to Emily? Is it moral to decline the
responsibility of being BINUKOT, since she is the daughter of Angga? Why or why not?

I think she cares more about herself than their culture that may be negative but it's okay from her parents
their not forcing her, so I think she's just doing what's best for her. She has the option to be a BINUKOT
but she didn't want it maybe she's selfish. But on the positive side she just like to live like normal people,
she doesn't want the special treatment, like not doing anything at all. She wants to study because she
thinks it's better.

4. In line to cultural anthropology, are you willing to sacrifice yourself to marry a man/woman just to
preserve the culture? Why?

No I wouldn’t, I'm not I'm not going to sacrifice myself for that I think it’s not enough reason to marry
someone just because of culture. I want to marry with purpose, if I meet the right person then I will marry
her not because somebody say so but because I want to. If I marry someone I don't like it will not do
anything good for me. I don't think there's a benefit in this type of culture.

5. What saying have you learned to Dr, Alicia P. Magos? Explain your answer and have your own
insights about it. How will you apply it to yourself?

She said most BINUKOT died in WORLD WAR II because they can't run, personally I'm not taking this
responsibly to be a BINUKOT. Yes you get to live with that lifestyle but I think it's too much to ask to
sacrifice your self just because the culture says you can't run. I may be too critical about this but I just
really don't like the sacrifice that it needs.
