I. Objective
Students explain writing as a macro skill and its importance of writing in teaching
and learning.
Discuss the different uses of writing.
Identify the challenges faced by individuals in writing.

II. Content and Materials

A. Topic: Macro Skill: Writing

C. Materials: Visual Aid and whiteboard
D. Concept: Writing refers to the act of putting ideas in text whether print or
nonprint.

III. Procedure

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Prayer
2. Greeting the class
3. Checking of attendance

B. Review
Students will be asked to discuss the last topic.

C. Motivation
Show students different write-ups from magazines, books, and other
publications.
Let them identify each of the publication.
What do you think is the skill used in making these publications?

D. Presentation of the Lesson


Present the definition of macro skills, identify these skills and give a thorough
discussion on the specific topic: writing.
Development of the Lesson

A. Activity
Each student will identify the different challenges faced in writing and also its
uses by playing the “genius ball” game.
Pass the “genius ball” around, and when the teacher says stop, the one
holding the ball will give his/her answer.

B. Analysis
Why do you think people find it harder to develop their writing skills than the
other macro skills?
As future educators, how do we address these difficulties?

C. Abstraction
Again class, what is writing?
What is its significance in teaching and learning?

D. Application
Give at least one method you can use to improve you writing/ improve your
students’ writing skills.

IV. Evaluation

1. Lucy, a grade-10 student, is still having difficulty in writing her essays. As her
English teacher, how can you help her improve her writing skills?

2. Why is writing considered as the most challenging macro skill?

3. As a future English teacher, what would be your strategies in enhancing the


writing skills of your students?

V. Assignment

Read in advance and do a research about the next macro skill that will be
discussed.
